Hey. Does anyone know how many scholarships UArts normally gives out and how much $ they are?

I do know that they offer a Presidential Scholarship of about $12K a year, as well as something that (I think) they call a Promising Young Artist scholarship/awards of (again, I think) $10K a year. I frankly don't know how many of each of these they give. You might contact UArts directly to ask. Try to remember, too, that these merit/talent awards are not the only way things available: I feel pretty sure that, like other schools, UArts offers its share of grants and work study as well as loans.

Unless things have changed, the scholarship award @ UArts (as with many of the other programs) accompanies your letter of acceptance.

In addition to the merit scholarships awarded around the time of acceptance, there are also merit scholarships of various types given to selected matriculated students. The merit scholarships are in addition to grants and other financial assistance.

nice! well i was accepted a couple days ago and got 12k a year. So Uarts is looking pretty good!

I think that UArts is pretty generous with money. I know of another student that got more than $12,000 upfront.

Toyz, when did you audition? My D auditioned February 16 and I was wondering if anyone has been notified from that audition weekend.

I auditioned at the NYC unfidieds... so like feb. 1st. I also have a friend who auditioned the 16th and she has not heard anything either.

Toyz, thanks for the information. We will continue to wait and wait and wait!! LOL

In addition to the merit scholarships offered to entering freshmen, UArts also has additional merit money available to rising sophomores based on the freshman year grades/performance. Add to it need based scholarships/grants, no one should allow the "sticker price" dissuade them from applying.
