this is good...something is actually happening now. I'm in California, so I'll give it a few more days...

Yup - got a large letter today in the mail. Region-at-large. Good luck to you all!

so did you win, honora?

Yes - in non-fiction.

jegan3 -- in all the previous years, only the winners have been notified. All others have to wait in misery until they post the full winners list online in June.

moshi_moshi.
i was wondering about the florida thing.
who emailed you about notification.
because i haven't heard anything at all for florida
and its getting to late to make flight arrangements!!!

I'm so glad to have been given the opportunity to go to Carnegie Hall in June. It's a dream come true, and I'm thankful that I was given the chance to put my portfolio together just a weekend before the deadline date.

Things for Art are a little different this year because they were judging by pics on discs not by the actual art work(at least from MA)so, if you won a Gold Key your pics were sent to NYC, if you win a National Gold then they send for your piece. Anyway, it's too mysterious PLUS if you win and you want to go to NYC there isn't much time to plan if you get notified the second week of May! As soon as you hear something post it everyone!

AHH! I'm so happy! I won a Gold Key!!!!! Eeeeeeedljsdlka!!!

It was kind of funny... every day for the past month I've been running out to get the mail the second I get home... today, I didn't even think about the Scholastics (I'd given up hope) and was taking out the newspaper when the giant envelope popped out. I probably won't get any National recognition, but I'm very proud nonetheless =) (PS- I entered RAL, short story, and I'm in New England)

According to my mom (who opened the envelope), I won a gold key in general writing portfolio, nonfiction portfolio, and short story. It also says that my writing will be forward to the national committee to be judged (I was RAL).

But I was under the impression that they had already made the national decisions for gold portfolios? The letter says they will let me know later this month who the final winners were.

Can someone help me out? Are RAL judged separately for national awards? Or was the letter mistaken and have all gold key portfolios at the national level already been announced?

i got a Gold Key in RAL for my general writing portfolio. does this mean i didn't get anything for poetry (i also submitted in that category)? and this is all a bit anticlimactic, considering that the lists of national portfolio winners were already posted here. oh well. i guess it's nice. at least i have a lapel pin...?

Urgh...it seems like everyone has heard by now.

I guess that's it for me then:-(

But congrats to everyone who won! That's awesome!

"at least i have a lapel pin...?"
Wear it tomorrow =P

Don't give up, Swifty. We're all from the NE area... and I only got mine today. Maybe the west hasn't received anything yet.

Thanks LesOs :)

And I agree with ^... leisaie, wear your lapel pin with pride :D Writer-ness for the win!

This is driving me crazy! Are the people at scholastic really this soulless?? I submitted to writing RAL and haven't heard a thing. If anybody in California hears anything...please. This wait is just sadistic.

I still don't understand how this works. It says my work (RAL) will now be forwarded to the national level to be judged. But I thought they had already decided all of this stuff? Ack.

I just got my Gold Key award (region at large) for my senior portfolio today!

Congrats!!!

What state are you from?

jegan3, you were judged on regional level i believe. Now you're going to nationals!!! congrats!!

Yayyy. Thanks for clearing that up for me :)
