Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Seriously-----On behalf of the entire CC Scholastic Art and Writing Awards thread members, I too must totally thank you for answering soo many questions (you know, the ones Scholastic lies about?) yeah, those.

For real, thanks a whole bunch!!

Sincerely,
Ped-Neurologist!

Ped, my guess is that there will be 300-400 writing awards out of the 1,400 overall national awards. If any one has been notified of national award, please post. Thx!

AAAAHHHH!!! I just found out that I won a RAL gold key for short story! This is exciting...I was getting worried after I heard that a lot of you recieved notification. So for people who haven't gotten anything, don't give up--they're still notifying everyone!

Congrats!!! what state on you from? (I almost googled Arcadia--until I rememebered that Zeus was born there--lol)

congrats on the award! btw, the e-mail sent by Scholastic about the portfolio winners mentioned that there were 373 national winners for writing, out of 1,161 total award recipients (the rest are for art).

I got an email today from scholastic titled "Artistic Profile Survey for National Awards" that said

Dear 2007 Scholastic Art & Writing Award Recipient:

On behalf of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, I am writing to congratulate you on your national recognition in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2007. In order to complete your submission and award process, please take a few minutes to fill out our Artistic Profile survey. I have provided a link to the short survey below.

The Alliance is currently gathering information from national award recipients to learn more about what it takes to support the development of young artists or writers. We want to know about the people, programs, and resources that have made a difference along your creative path. With this information, we hope to provide better resources, guidance, and support to future generations of young artists and writers. Thank you again for submitting your work to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2007, and thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out our Artistic Profile survey!

Please note: National Notification Packets, with information about National Celebration Events (June 14 and 15) in New York City, are currently in the mail and will be arriving within the next week. The deadline for all required materials has been moved to May 11.

still nothing in the mail though

Congrats, Vegangirl! That's so exciting!

I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to win a national award... but I'm still proud of my lovely little lapel pin =)

congrats, vegangirl! in which category did you win?

ped-neurologist: I'm in CA. Good luck if youo're still waiting to hear...

And congrats vegangirl!

Just got the mail....

National Gold Award in Humor.

YEEEEE!

YES! I JUST GOT THE EMAIL!
this means i'm recognized nationally, right?? i am so pumped. no mail yet though but i'm sure it's in short story since they already announced portfolios for nationals.

i was just wondering if there are any workshops for the novel writing category during the national celebration in New York, and is it required for you to go to?

Hey!!! Everyone who has receive notification...Congratulations!!!

Could someone answer the following questions for me?

If you submitted a personal essay/memoir RAL will you be notified by email or mail, or both. If both, will the email be of a national award notification? Or regional.

If you live in Georgia, and have heard nothing yet, can it be assumed that your submission will not be recognized?

Can you sue the postoffice if your mailman always puts your mail in your neighbor's mailbox? (Forget this one...frustation).

Mail sucks.---sorry, not a question.

Thanks!

I live in Georgia and we heard that a person in my school received a national gold award for writing. We just heard this news last Wednesday.

Im in Florida and i haven't heard anything yet either for my short story in nationals. I think you find out between may2-may 9

I'm on the east coast and I got my letter yesterday saying I won a national gold award in writing. I also received the e-mail vegangirl got. I'm guessing that anyone who won a national award would probably have gotten at least the e-mail by now - the official letter may take a few days.

Actually I was wrong in my guess! Turns out I got a silver key in nonfiction portfolio. I'm in KS and just got my letter today.

so everyone who applied RAL has been notified, (regional award) already?

ped--

well, I still haven't heard anything from RAL...but I probably just didn't get anything. But people are already hearing from nationals, so...it doesn't look good. I'm just sort of baffled at the way scholastic does all of this...it's so scatter-brained. It kind of amuses me:)

i got my national award info in the mail.
cool.
