So I just found out that my counselor is an offline user to the common app. Therefore, I have to print the school form, have him fill them out, and then send them in by mail. However, we are on break just like everyone else, and there’s no way for me to get a hold of him. There’s no possible way for me to get the forms in by that time. I have the common application and the supplements completed, but the school forms are all I need. Will NYU understand and give me more time? or should I just terminate my application all together?

My daughter goes to NYU. She says to try calling admissions now and on Jan. 6 when it reopens for January term. Don’t give up without trying! It’s an awesome school!

Send in all of your own parts to the application now by the deadline. Colleges care the most that your part is submitted by the deadline but often are forgiving if pieces sent by recommendation writers or your school come in soon after the deadline. In fact, it takes a while for them to file everything. Make sure your school counselor knows as soon as you get back to school that the NYU deadline is Jan. 1 and you filed your application and need his/her pieces to go in right away. That should likely be just fine. Honestly, you should have asked your school counselor way before now (whether he/she files electronically or not) but I don’t think it will be a problem if the school counselor gets those pieces in the first week of January, as long as YOUR application was filed on time. So, apply now if you follow these directions.
