School of Undergraduate Studies?

Hi, I am considering UT-Austin as a number one choice for school right now.
But I am considered out-of-state (because I only lived in Texas for two years-requirement is 3 for in state), non of my AP's count because they are all 3's, and I haven't got the major that I wanted. So do you think it is worth it to go to UT-Austin Undergrad and get transferred to McCombs? and is it really hard to get transferred in to the McCombs School of Business?

It is much easier to transfer internally within the school to McCombs. But it is one of the harder schools to get into. I believe it is worth it because you are guaranteed a job when you graduate and I just believe UT is awesome. If your considering Texas schools it is definitely the best. If you transfer to McCombs just be sure to have all four indicator courses and a high GPA and I’m sure you’ll get in!

They did mention that McCombs and the Engineering schools were the hardest school to get into, and also getting a transfer was competitive.
I did not realize that to be considered in-state, you had to live in Texas for 3 years. I read somewhere that you had to be a resident for a year.

@Schoolgirl7866: yes I have heard. Last year only 67% of the internal transfer students got accepted in. I am just scared that I would not get in and end up with out a major in the end…:(

@lousyanamom: well you only become a resident if you pay taxes and work. for educational purposes you only become a resident if you live in state for 3 years.

It maybe easier to get into a liberal arts program versus Business school, but then if you are unable to transfer to business school then you maybe stuck in whatever major.
I am not very keen on my son doing a liberal arts degree at a place as big as UT.
