What to do, I am at a loss on what to do about my financial aid for the fall semester. The school flat out refuses to process my financial aid if i do not provide W-2 forms from 2014, even though i was not employed. I repeatedly called, emailed, left messages, faxed, went in person to tel them that i did not earn an income nor was i ever employed, and nothing was done. I do not get how they expect me to provide a document that does not exist on earth. I do not no who i should speak too because no one believes how someone who was not employed did not receive a W-2 . Its been over 5 months of this back and forth and nothing is done.
Find out if they will accept a non-tax filer’s statement

The problematic thing here is the lack of communication from the FA office, they should tell you exactly what they need.
I believe you can file an affidavit of not being required to file taxes.
They may be wondering how you met your expenses if you were not working.
Are you an independent student? Or are you the parent?
Schools have a non-filers statement that can be completed for those who are not required to file taxes.
ok im going to try this to see what happens
im a dependent student living with my parents
Are. They asking for, your tax returns, our your parents?
my tax returns
Did you indicate on the FAFSA that you did not file?
yes
And are not going to file?
And you listed your income as $0?
Something is very weird — certainly you are not the first student to attend school that didn’t have a job before. What did they say when you visited (emailed, called etc) and told them you did not have a job and therefore did not have a W-2?
Maybe try to get this “Verification of Nonfiling” letter from the IRS?
http://view.fdu.edu/files/20142015verificationofnonfilingstatus.pdf
There is something weird. Many students apply to ivies and aid w/o every having worked before.
You need to get someone on the phone and clarify the problem. somehow, they must be getting some kind of indication that you did receive some money. Are you receiving any kind of disability payments or anything that isn’t from a job? Did you receive any kind of insurance pay-out from an accident or anything? (I’m just taking wild guesses)
Are they specifically using the term W-2 or are they using another term?
Can you have a parent call the FA office? An adult may be able to get to the bottom of this…this has been going on for 5 months, so clearly there is a misunderstanding somewhere.
Is this school near enough to you to go there in person?
Are you an incoming freshman? If not, did you receive aid last year? grants? scholarships? work study?
i did not receive any money from anywhere, i received aid last semester with no issue, as to why they continue to ask for w-2 tax papers is beyond me
someone sent in a 1099 form to the IRS with your name or SS # on it.
That is probably what is triggering it.
Call the IRS and ask them for a copy of all 1099’s for 2014 sent in with your SS .
Its probably a case of someone putting your SS # on someone else’s 1099.
You don’t just call the IRS and ask for 1099s. Order a tax transcript. They are now sent by mail and it takes a week.

ahhh…yes you did. You received financial aid last year. That may be what the school is wondering about.
Tell us, what aid you got for this last school year… (and even tho this last semester was 2015, some schools will include the whole school year’s worth of grants onto the 1099.)
^^If the student received FA last semester from the same college, then it makes no sense that he would have to explain it to them!
OP, will you be going the same college in the Fall? And did you parents once again fill out and send the FA forms you college requires in Jan?
If you applied and received FA your Freshman year, You need to reapply for FA each year you are in college.
