haha...that makes two of us the 'chicago over duke' clan...hahah...anyone else???

Yale (Yes, Yale)
UMichigan Honors Program
NYU Stern Scholars Program

A few more, one of them is another ivy.

Don't say those are not great schools, just can't go to more than one.

"Don't say those are not great schools, just can't go to more than one."

Finally, one sensible person who's humble as well, or atleast honest and doesn't put other schools down.
You're awesome! Have fun at UChicago :-)

biztogo: Please help me understand your reason for declining U Mich honors vs. Chicago. I would truly appreciate it. I am goign the otherway and want to insure that I am not missing something critical. THANKS.

wat is so difficult, without money, Chicago is the BETTER deal, more prestige, smaller classes, more selective (Much more selective), there is like a 150 pt differential in SAT scores here...i say thats a big difference

While there may be a 150 point SAT differential, given the size of the undergraduate student body at MI there are probably as many or more students with numbers in precisely the same range as Chicago, Yale, Stanford etc. My guess is that MI honors is about the same as these schools, with plenty of kids not in the honors program may also have these numbers.

1) Cornell
2) UPenn (waitlist - but I wouldn't go there anyway :P)
3) Barnard

HIYOUALL: I decided Economics will be my major and Uchicago is one of the best econ programs, although I'd miss Wolverines' great sports and all that. You'll have wonderful time in Ann Arbor if you decided to go to Michigan, no doubt about it.

Yes, I agree with biztogo. Out of all these amazing schools that people are listing, I'm sure we'd all be happy at any one of them. I also want to make a point that Michigan isn't just some random state school (obviously), so it's not as though you'd be turning down prestige and great academics by going there.

Honors colleges are a whole new ball game. The students who go there tend to be pretty damn smart and a lot of them got into the Ivy's and other school, but just can't afford the high costs and hence enroll at their state school.

agreed...

Biztogo: It's great to have you as our future schoolmates..very down to earth..=)

am turning down bowdoin, davidson, haverford, macalester, illinois wesleyan, uic, uiuc, all with comparable financial aid.

pretty much uchicago was my only reach school that i got into, and it was one of my top two choices! :-)

Bowdoin wasn't a reach? Man....

yeah, agreed, i got into uchicago but was waitlisted at bowdoin (didnt really want to go that badly tho)

bowdoin wasn't my top choice anyways, but they were my first acceptance letter, so they have a special place in my heart. plus, i was an early write for them, so i got super excited, and then uchicago arrived. ;-)

Er, let's see....

Not ranked in any particular order.

UW - Madison (I think I'd rather bathe in worms)

University of Rochester (with a heaping load of money)

Washington and Lee

Loyola (again, lots of money, but then again I did apply as a joke...)

Dartmouth, if I get taken off the waiting list, because I can't say no to UChicago...

lol, captainfetus, love the screenname.

odyssy took the words right out from my fingertips :p

hi! i really need help! i read your post about barnard and thougth i should ask...i accepted tufts' offer of admission, but barnard just got me off their waitlist..where should i got-- i was gonna major in International Relations and minor in Media and Communications at Tufts....help!~

If you are a new englander, go to Barnard. If you are a new yorker, stick with Tufts. If you're from another part of the country ... pick the school that will be the best for the person you will be ... a couple of years down the road.
