senior year grades affecting admissions

I ended my last semester of junior year with straight A’s and an overall GPA of 3.8. However, I am struggling to maintain my grades at all A’s this year. I have a B in AP chemistry (which is two classes, so two B’s) and a B in AP Calculus. I really would not be able to pick them up before the end of the semester, so I would end the semester with three B’s total. I’m really afraid it will affect my admissions to the UC’s I’m applying to. Will this affect my admissions for colleges greatly?

UCs only take into account grades 10-12 as you know. If you do decide to go to a UC they will ask for a transcript at the end of the year, so I would say your senior grades could get you rescinded but not rejected. A’s and B’s aren’t rejection worthy grades though so you’re fine.

UC’s will not consider senior grades in their admissions decision unless they send you a supplemental where they could ask for Mid-year grades. Only a few applicants will get supplementals. What you want to do is maintain an unweighted GPA of 3.0 for UCB/UCLA or a 3.0 weighted GPA for the rest of the UC’s if provisionally admitted. Once admitted, you will send your final transcript only to the school in which you will attend. No D’s or F’s and you should be fine.

UC’s don’t care about senior grades. They only look at 10-11 grades for admissions.

Like the above poster yet, rule of thumb is to not get any C’s during senior year, then you should be fine.

Thank you all for your help!
