September 2011 ACT Discussion and Socres

thank barefoot

@actstudent

I believe there weren’t any OMITs now that I think about it…

@Fanatic16 the answer was B (Raises)

i got paulette too everyone. the outlier was 2 in those scores. makes for a bigger difference

whoa, i thought you had to multiply by 8, not divide by 8! crap! are y’all sure, b/c i thought that it was a scaled down version of an entire house!

Oh another answer i remember was that to raise the mean of a set of numbers by 4, you must add 24 (answer) to the set.

anyone else have a thought about the scale version problems w/ the playhouse?

You had to divide by 8, I remember looking at that question very closely just for that reason.

I read the scale house problem multiple times to make sure I understood it. You had to divide it. Also, there is no way a playhouse is going to be 200+ feet haha

but the playhouse was a scaled down version of a REAL house it said. why would you make a model of a playhouse?

@anonymous

The question said that the playhouse was a model of the real house and the scale was 1:8. If the real house was … what are the dimensions of the playhouse?

Was the shaded circle one in math 20pi? The radius of one was 6 and the other was 4.

@Magicka

I believe it was 5pi, because it was 1/4 of a circle. Therefore, it would be 9pi - 4pi = 5pi.

What do you guys think about the curve? I think it may look like this:

E: 0/-1=36, 1 down from there
M: 0=36, -1=35, 1 down from there
R: 0/-1=36, 1 down from there
S: 0/-1/(maybe)-2=36, or if not… 0/-1=36, -2/-3=35, 1 down from there

On the passage about the corns, there was a question about “accounts for” and “consists of”. Which one is right? I hope the former is…

Sorry if this has been asked before!

I put accounts for, but not sure if that’s right

Oh god! you’re right. wow i can’t believe i missed that.

Does anyone remember what other choices were for lifeguards sit on perches? Apparently it was the first question and I don’t remember it?

I believe the only other one that I was debating as to whether or not it was right was “his/ her perch”. Lifeguards sit on THEIR perches is correct

I can’t remember that lifeguard question…making me nervous…
