i was looking at la's housing options..can someone explain to me what a "double, shared bath" is compared to just a "double"? thanks in advance!

probably saying that there is only one bath/shower.

hmm so everyone on the floor shares one shower for the “shared bath”? i’m so confused :p

There’s 3 different types of dorms:

Res Hall – your stereotypical dorm with a long hall and shared bathrooms for the entire floor. (Doubles, Triples)

Plazas – hotel style, with bathrooms inside each room. Shared bath means that 2 rooms share one bathroom, unshared bath means each room has their own bathroom. (Singles, Doubles, Triples)

Suites – like a plaza but the 2 adjacent rooms share a bathroom and a living room type area. The cons of these are that they’re less social (tend to be 2nd years) and that they’re old. (Doubles, Triples)

Double means 2 people per room, triple means 3 people per room. Next year there are pretty much no doubles because of how large my class and you the incoming freshman class are. I think there’s probably still singles left though.

thanks peta! i am aiming for a res hall- would a triple be larger than a double?

oh and by “no doubles” do you mean in the res halls?

No triples and doubles are the same size, triples are pretty cramped but it’s all part of the freshman social experience By no doubles I mean literally almost no doubles in any of the dorms. We signed up for housing a few weeks ago and the doubles ran out within a couple of hours :(
