Montclair is a no…. :((

Oh, so sorry…you still have a few to go, though?

I feel like that was our barometer…if she didn’t get in there it won’t be happening…

Don’t give up. Weird stuff happens…kids get shut out at mid-level schools and into better ones. I always thought of Montclair as more of an MT school anyway.

So sorry Bisouu. I’ve been in the doom and gloom place, but we don’t know yet how the story will end. Good things will happen!!

You’ve already got a BFA option at RI, too, don’t you? I bet she nails her U Arts audition and gets an offer there.

Very sorry Bisouu! Like jkellynh17 I think of Montclair as more MT too though.
It’s going to be OK!! Hang in there.

This one was so tricky…every other audition had her in the room for 5 minutes…Montclair spent almost 20 minutes with her really getting to know her asking her a lot of fun questions, she was relaxed and said it was the most fun she had at any audition. She didn’t walk out saying she nailed it, but felt very confident that they would offer her a spot. I haven’t told her yet. That’s the part I am dreading….

So sorry bissou but you really never know. My son was accepted at a school where he thought his audition was not good and rejected at the one that he felt the best about…and where the auditioners told him they were looking for kids just like him. Go figure. Strange things happen and I feel like a lot of times it has more to do with a good “fit”. Keep the faith.

So sorry @bisouu - this whole process it so hard, and the rejections are so painful. And I really think it is harder for girls. But it is SO subjective, and 2 years ago my daughter was both rejected from schools she thought she would definitely get into, and accepted at schools she did not expect. Hang in there! Not to be annoyingly philosophical but there are so many paths, and no “right” one. And URI BFA is a fantastic option!

Oh phooey. Sorry to hear that Bisouu. I sure wish her first bit of news could have been positive. Sending warm thoughts your way today.

Do you think a large tub of Rocky Road ice cream and a giant Hershey bar will help her through the disappointment?

Oh no, sorry Bissou! And about Montclair being a barometer-- no, you can’t read it that way. You never have any idea what goes on behind closed doors. There could be many reason why she wasn’t accepted that have nothing to do with her audition and more to do with type, etc.

That makes me kinda sad that Montclair isn’t really regarded as a great school for an Acting since my D got accepted there. She was excited. :(

@annelisesmom….I think everyone is trying to make me feel better which is so appreciated right now because I am a puddle… Montclair does have a reputation of being a top MT school, but don’t discount its acting program. Congrats to her for getting in :)

@glassharmonica I am keeping my fingers crossed for Fordham!!

@bisouu - thanks, I totally get it! My D was devastated at not getting into DePaul or Rutgers MG (and so was I) so she is trying to take some comfort in her Montclair acceptance. Many good thoughts coming your and your D’s way way for good news soon! ~~~~~

@annelisesmom I think my perspective is probably skewed by the fact that the only girl I know at Montclair is MT . I see lots of singing and dancing type posts in her mom’s FB feed. I think that the young actor who got that Charlie Chaplin role completely out of the blue, no one thought he had a shot, but he just nailed his audition – and got a tony nom – he was from Montclair. It will be good training. It’s definitely a seat on the bus. (that’s what I always said about my son, “he just needs a seat on the bus.”) Tell your daughter it’s up to her and how hard she works and how well she absorbs what they have to offer. There’s no reason she couldn’t succeed out of Montclair. It’s not a given, but it’s not a given anywhere.

@glasshaonica, I do have a daughter at Tisch but I also have a senior son who is waiting on 9 schools right now.too.

@bisouu, huge bummer.

Montclair is a good program but very few get into everywhere they audition. The rhyme and reason of the acceptances and rejections are just crazy. I am so sorry, Bissou, I do think your D will end up in a great program as well.
