I received the Shipman scholarship nomination a few weeks ago, and I’m a little confused about how the scholarship works:

How much is this scholarship actually for LSA students? The information on LSA’s website is vague and doesn’t make sense. (It mentions first that the award is worth 36,800; it says later that the funds are comprised of $10,000 from the Shipman society and $20,000 from LSA.) It also does not match the information on the letter I received. (it mentions that shipman society gives 12,000 for recipients, but it does not mention any about the LSA giving any money at all.)

2.I also noticed that shipman nominees (not just recipients), at least on this board, also received scholarships from umich outside of the shipman nomination (e.g LSA Dean’s, Engineering scholarship, MSA, etc.) Is this the norm? The only letter I received was the shipman nomination. I don’t feel entitled to any scholarship; I was just wondering if this means that I just made the cut.
