Peabody, MA? Northwest burb of Boston.

I’m sure every town in Massachusetts and Alabama (and maybe in between) is combing through its police records right now to see if they have anything on her.

This gets stranger - this police report was filed last fall. I’m surprised that this women didn’t take a swing back

Michelle M. Gjika, 42, of 21 Bowen Road, Peabody, was arrested at 2:34 a.m. by Patrolman Thomas Hennessey and hit with three charges of assault and battery on a police officer, two charges of witness intimidation, destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest, negligent operation of a vehicle, and drunken driving. No further information is available.

Our local newspaper prints out a list a couple of times a week of every single bozo who has been arrested for anything, and that includes peeing on the sidewalk. That list is then included in the on-line version of the newspaper. If I did a google search for a name included in the arrest list, the police report will pop up.

Now, the IHOP escapade was about 8 years ago, and things have changed since then. But I am wondering if there was not, in fact, more information available to future employers than we have been assuming. Especially if there is more out there.

Assaulting a mom because her kid is in the last booster seat??? No offense to our MA friends, but I’m beginning to think it was a good idea I left there.

Re: Having her children as co-authors –

It wasn’t to give her kids a hook; you’re all too wrapped up in college stuff to see that!!

Her point was to give her study some gravitas by having several names on it. Note that, whoever quoted something about the journal in which the study was published (momof3 in Post #475), mentioned that it’s an “Open Access” journal. I believe that means that it’s not peer reviewed. So anyone can publish (more or less) anything they want. She was trying to make her paper bigger than it actually was.

Crossposted with momof3!!!

Okay–can’t pull myself away from this story for some reason.

The journal with her kids’ paper is apparently pretty much of a “vanity press” –
http://www.dovepress.com/why_publish_with_dove.php
While ostensibly peer reviewed, they will basically accept pretty much any paper–as long as you are willing to fork over >$1500 in “publication processing fees”. Although some journals do have “page charges” to help defray the costs of publication (usually charged to the grant), this really seems more like a pay-to-publish deal. If the majority of her papers were of this ilk, it could certainly impact a tenure decision…

From their website “A lot of our journals receive a large number of papers, but unlike many traditional journals, your paper will not be rejected due to lack of space. Our journals are all published online only and there are no limits on the number or size of the papers we can publish”.

I can’t believe the IHOP thing. All I can say is OMG.

I have to admit that I do have sympathy for calling 911 on kids riding dirt bikes and scooter around and around and around and around a yard from when school gets out until 8PM. I would be tempted to grab a rifle in those circumstances. If you have ever been there you know what I mean. Banning the ice cream truck because her kids are supposedly lactose intolerant is totally insane. Hasn’t the woman heard of Italian Ice, fer chrissakes?

The accumulating bizarreness of all of this is just too much.

I wonder if she ever made it out to where I lived? Someone once sideswiped my car, badly, as I was leaving for the airport at Christmas. I was pregnant, and I was so angry that the creep didn’t even stop I thought I would miscarry. Ruined my whole Christmas. I’ve always wanted a face or name to blame.

BCEagle, your last post explains why that victim isn’t interested in talking to the press, I guess.

These assaults would never happen at Flying Biscuit… [Raving Brands | The Flying Biscuit Cafe](http://www.ravingbrands.com/flying_biscuit.aspx)

Never heard of them - looks like a downscale Panera Bread.

Maybe Michell Gijka can claim that the 2002 assault by Amy Bishop was so traumatic that it turned her into an alcoholic, thus causing her recent arrest.

Just some levity there. Again, any update on the injured at UAH?

I’ve been lurking here since the beginning, but the IHOP story finally did it. My H hates IHOP because people get so rude in the long lines there. Guess I’m glad Amy didn’t ever go to my IHOP.

I’m sure child protective services is on this case, or at least I hope they are. If her husband is not psychotic himself, he’s been emotionally battered. I hate to think what living in that house must have been like. Having unfortunately known someone whose H committed horrible crimes (though not murder), I’ve seen a spouse who was terrorized by her sick husband and was not just in denial, but living in fear and totally out of touch with reality. I’m not ready to assume that AB’s husband willingly colluded with her. Still, I hope the next story I read will say the children are out of the house and living with relatives (if there are any relatives who were not terrorized by AB, but that’s another story).

Hmm–this morning I didn’t believe what I just wrote about the husband. The IHOP story turned the tide.

I think Amy Bishop long ago figured out something about the law, as it is commonly applied. That is: Being smart, white and female provides allot of leeway if not outright immunity in regards to bad behavior.

My Lord - how did this creature not end up in the slammer earlier???

BCeagle-
Panera? Psshaw. They should stick to their salads and soups. They can only dream of making biscuits.

I’ve been out of New England too long. Remembered it as being off Rt 128 towards Gloucester, not NW.

PS - Bonus points for correctly pronouncing Peabody and Gloucester.

PEEE- buh-deeee (second part is pronounced not “buddy” but bu-DEE) and Gluster (or Glustah, depending on who you are talking to). What do I win? A biscuit?

^^ I’ll buy you dinner at IHOP with two charming ladies.

^You win some chowdah! :D
