Should I apply this year or wait a year?

Hi all,

Technically, I can apply this year with good stats and all pre-reqs complete, but the only thing I will be missing is the IGETC math, which will be done by Spring '12.

Having said that, math is my WEAKEST subject, and although I am confident I can pass Statistics, I really don't want to risk being rescinded after I've worked so hard at everything else.

Would it be advisable to wait until I know I've passed the transferable math? And would I be penalized by UC admissions for waiting a year? I'm in no rush, but I constantly feel pressure from peers to be on a timeline for transferring.

Thanks all!

…& you cannot take it this fall? or are you taking a pre-req for the transferrable math this fall?

guessing you are desiring Berkeley?

Eh, if that’s the case, I’d wait another year. Moving along on time is important, but I feel doing your best is most important.

Berkeley and UCLA are my top choices. I’m taking the pre-req this fall, so I can’t even get into the transferable one until Spring.

What’s your GPA, major, and how many transferable units will you have completed by the end of this Summer ('11)?

Certain majors won’t automatically reject based on incomplete IGETC or Pre. Req coursework (but you still need most of it done). So depending on your major and GPA and if money isn’t a factor, just apply this year and see what happens. Also, I’m not 100% percent sure on this but if you apply this year and get rejected and it doesn’t hurt your chances next year.
