Hello! I’m in a dilemma about whether or not I should drop my Math 17a class because according to ratemyprofessor, I have a bad teacher who does not teach well, and makes finals extremely hard.

Looking at the sisweb, the other professor that I would like to have only has two more spots. Should I risk it, and drop my current math class and try to add the new one during my pass 2? This also means I have t drop my Chem class and sign up for a new one because it would conflict with the new class time if I am able to change my math class.

Or, should I just completely drop my math class and take another course like English?

I am a Human Development major, and would like to get into Optometry/Med School.

Currently,
I am signed up for Anthropology, Chem2A, and Math17a

Thank you so much for taking your time to read this extremely long post > <

not extremely long at all.
anyway, if i were in your situation i would do it because grades matter for med school. how easy would it be to get into another chem class? i guess it depends on that… on one hand, you don’t want to be behind, and on the other hand, dropping your current chem class might not allow you to get into chem at all. there are definitely more people trying to get into chem than there are spaces.
you should try to switch into the other math class, especially if there are two spots open. but make sure you can get into chem

If I were to switch to another Math class, I would also have to change into another Chemistry class, or else my current Chem class’s time would conflict with the new math class. Both Chem and Math have only 2 spots open…

2 spots open = 1 more than you need to successfully do what you want. i don’t see the problem. if there were 0 spots open there would be a problem…

Dude if you want my honest opinion, just stay in your classes. The only people that complain on ratemyprof are the students that want the easy way out. Notice how you only go on there to find out what the easy classes are? So the people that want the easy life will go on there and rate a teacher on if he gave out a easy grade. So basically what im saying is that don’t follow rmp because the only people that complain ditched class and didn’t care much for the class. Stay in it. If you want the easy way out starting from now, what makes you think you can go into the medical career? Prove something to your self. Go in the class that is supposedly hard and get an A, you will be so much more confident then. And calculus is a hard concept class for those that aren’t mathy, so a alot of people will complain. The teacher is going to test you on what is in the chapters covered in the books and what he goes over in class.

Lastly, do you really wanna risk your chem class. 2 spots will go away quick when there are hundreds/thousands of students online. Plus, get math over with now, so in the future you deal with your major subjects.

Go see how many reviews you find for med schools or optometry schools. Practically none, because the people that go there wont go off what other people say, they study and get the grade they deserve. Start being a good student now.
And if you got ali dadel, he is a great prof!

Are you a freshmen? if you are, just drop the math class and pick up an easy GE class, you have so much time to finish all of your optometry/med school prereqs, don’t stress about it your first quarter.

biologymajor1 what year are you and what professors have you had that have gotten bad reviews on ratemyprofessor but whose classes you’ve aced with hard work alone?
