So I do this sport that’s very unconventional so I was wondering if I should email my regional admissions officer for a particular school asking him whether I should attach a supplement of a video of me doing my sport (it’ll be professional, set to music with fluid camera dynamics etc.). It would kind of like be like a substitution for a music supplement. I don’t think the adcoms will understand the sport on paper, so that’s why I would send the video. Should I email my adcom asking him whether I should send the video or should I just send it?
Your mother interviews for an HYP yet you continue with scads of questions. Why not ask her? I’m sure she would appreciate the fact that you might find her opinion to be useful.
@T26E4 I’ve asked her; she told me she’s never come across something like that so she doesn’t know. That’s why I’ve come here to ask. Don’t assume that my mother knows everything just because she interviews for H (btw I’m asking about a college outside of HYP). I ask my “scads” of questions to her quite often, and sometimes I just want multiple opinions. Answer this as if my mother knew nothing about college.
Fair enough. I think there’s no set answer. My regional admissions officer once told an audience to include significant things that you consider important – it helped her draw an image of the applicant. Yet, my college’s very website says to seriously consider submitting supplementals – in language almost to discourage it.
@T26E4 good to know… Do you think I should bother emailing the adcom about it?
All in all, I think I’d just send it.
@T26E4 sorry to bump this old thread, but if I were to send in the video with my app, would I just include a link in the additional info section or is there a specific place in which I should add the video? I looked through the Common App and there’s no dedicated space to add a video supplement from what I’ve seen.
I found a place called slide room for videos… Not sure if that’s the right place to upload one though
