i took the AP US test this year and walked out feeling very confident! I got a 97% in the class (second highest), i read all 1006 pages of our textbook even pages that werent assigned, and i could literally recite the barrons book by memory. I was expecting a four or five, and i got a TWO!!! I was SO shocked because i knew my history very, very well and i even got a 71% on the multiple choice practice test we took in class! My friend got a 49% on the practice test, didnt study AT ALL and got the same score as me!!! I put my practice multiple choice into AP Pass and found out that in order to get a 3, I would need a 2/9 on one essay and a 1/9 on the other two. It’s literally impossible I did so BAD!! should i get rescored or do you think i would get the same result???
I also took the APUSH exam this year and got a 5. If you feel like you had a similar performance on the exam’s multiple choice and on your practice multiple choice and also feel confident that you included what the college board is looking for in all of your free responses (i.e. specific examples in short answer questions, contextualization/outside information/synthesis, etc. in your DBQ), then a 2 definitely seems low and you might want to look into getting your exam rescored!
There are definitely stories of kids that thought they got a 5, were given a 2, and then on a rescore it was found that their multiple choice sheet hadn’t been scored. And on rescore they got a 4 or a 5.
Other than the $30 - there’s nothing to lose.
Definitely have it re-scored in your situation. It can’t hurt.
I am in the same position as you, I thought I got a 5 and found out I got a 2…I really enjoy history and have done really well in the class. I am planning on rescoring my exam too, let me know what happens once you do so! good luck!
