Should I pray?

Due to late scheduling appt, I didnt get Elzinga's Econ 201. As a pre-comm, I am not sure if I should just pray that I'll get in the class either when ISIS opens up or through course action, or if I should just simply take it along with Com 201 second year. Is that combo doable or too hectic?

Wait until ISIS reopens or course action into the class. Elzinga always uses the Chem Auditorium, and it can never seem to be filled to capacity for any class. Don't worry about it.

Thanks. I still wonder if I can just put it off until second year and take it along with COM 201. Does anyone know of anyone who has taken that combo?

I don't know what good praying will do. I do know that if you're proactive and religiously check the COD for a couple of weeks, it's possible (if not likely) that a spot will open up. I also know that within a couple days of classes beginning, people will begin to drop courses and spots will open up. And, if all else fails, you can talk to the professor and try to course action it. Persistence routinely pays off with things like this.

In the immortal words of Jim Morrison

"When I was back there in
seminary school
There was a person there
Who put forth the proposition
That you can petition the Lord
with prayer

PETITION the Lord with prayer . . .

PETITION the Lord with prayer . . .

You CANNOT petition the Lord with prayer"

Hmm, any particular reason why you want Elzinga? I opted for a smaller class myself.

It's like rush....it might not be for me but it's one experience I don't want to miss at UVa.

But still, can you recommend any of the other econ teachers?

If Uma Radhishkrishkan (or a spelling similar to that, her last name is so long) is teaching, definitely take her. Patient, explains concepts well, tests straight out of what she teaches.

Unfortunately, she's not teaching. Thanks for telling me though.

Pity. Are you pre comm? Then I'd recommend Wilkie for any class. Doesn't matter what, if he's teaching then take it.

Yep...definitely Pre-Comm. Did you go through the Comm school or you are current student? Do you know anything about Zhylevskyy? Someone mentioned him instead of Elzinga and he is teaching this semester?

Can it hurt?

Dunno anything about Zhylevskyy sorry, and I'm going to apply to the comm school this year. Eek. ><"

Good luck! Where are you right now in regard to pre-reqs? I emailed Elzinga and two days later I got off the waitlist!!! :) I don't know if the e-mail had anything to do with it but I am happy I won't have to bother with CAF's. Thanks for all the advice anyway.

I'm going taking ECON 202, STAT 212, and COMM 202. Then I'll only have to take COMM 180 the semester I apply. Kind of backwards yeah, but I started out as pre med my first sem, switched into pre comm second semester and took what pre comm'ers would have taken second sem instead of first sem classes.

i got into elzinga from the waitlist. i nevered emailed him, i only used that little description on the waitlist

Oh, ok. :)
