Should I quit?

There is a certain extracurricular activity that I am really involved and really enjoy doing. It is actually basically my only regular EC. The problem is, it takes up 3-4 hours at a time on a school day in the afternoon. This has been messing up my sleep schedule and in turn, my performance on tests and other schoolwork.

I reeeally love this extracurricular activity though and it is even pretty competitive to get accepted into. However I don't want my grades to drop because of it.

What do you think I should do: drop it or continue, and why?

If you enjoy it, I say you keep doing it and learn how to manage your time better. Make a schedule for yourself that allows you to do what you love, do your homework, and go to bed at a reasonable time. It’ll take a lot of self-discipline, but you can do it!

Is it 3-4 hours a day? I have to agree with above, you should continue if you love it! Try to rework your schedule…say school ends at 3 then you will get back at like 6 or 7…that leaves about 3-5 hrs. to do homework. If your school has a block schedule, this should make it a little easier with two days to do hw. If the EC is only once a week, it shouldn’t really be a big problem. Just don’t procrastinate and keep doing what you love!

Are you in a publication?

is it college confidential? xD

same problem, i dropped mines because for me academics is more important (now i sound like a parent, not good lol)

This isn’t a vague thread at all. :)

Lol hilsa, I’m sorry. I just don’t want to give away the name of the extracurricular because that would give away where I live and that’s not good for maintaining privacy.

I bet you have those parents who check your myspace daily as well.

I come home around 6 after athletics, and start on homework around 7~ 7:30 after finishing hygeine/hunger/help out business. Homework takes up until 11 PM~ 12 AM. I have been procrastinating a lot lately & my grades have been slipping down the slide. But, I’m just going to have to learn to manage it because the season is over in about a month now. BTW, it’s hard to keep up because we have tests almost every week~ 2 weeks, finish school later than most schools, & we go by trimesters which are 6 weeks.

A lot of people on here miss 3 hours a day to ECs and still manage. Unless you’re taking more than 3 AP courses I’d say it’s possible. Tweak your time management skills until you find the way.
