I don’t know your circumstances, but it is certainly preferred to be full time unless there are certain circumstances that prevent you from doing so. It comes off as if you can’t handle full course load. You are probably better off applying for fall semester. But apply to many schools regardless cause the last thing you want to do is not get into any school.

@Caliboy1234 thanks. I am going to be a full time student. And is it okay to transfer with 55 credits?

Why are you avoiding the question? It’s a legitimate one. Can you go way or not?

@SugarBubbleTea if I must go away I reckon I can…but preferably not

So Syracuse isn’t an option then. Okay, well that’s fine. Either way, it seems like a CUNY is your best course of action. NYU will probably give you terrible aid.

@SugarBubbleTea what college are you at right now? What college decent college close to NYC would you recommend?

is it hard to get in baruch college?

Yes, do apply to NYU. Your test scores and high school record won’t be as great of a concern to NYU for admissions as your grades in your college courses. I’ve seen very good results from kids transferring to NYU after initial denial when applying directly from high school and then going else where for college. If your grades are good, your chances would be.’

However, bear in mind that NYU does not meet full need, and that the chances of getting need met by Nyu as a transfer student is very small. So make sure you apply to some schools you know you will be able to afford as well.

Hehe! I’m not in college, but I do live in NYC and I am very familiar with the CUNY system. I have CUNY legacy if that means anything lol.

@cptofthehouse thanks! I really want to go to nyu. I am so scared I won’t get accepted. I don’t want to dissapoint my mom. Thank you so much for your help.

@SugarBubbleTea I see…I know nyu is highly competitive…I’m gonna apply to other colleges just in case…thanks for your help.

Wowowowowowowowowowowowowoow! These comments are all over the place.

Bottom line, don’t let your mom influence your decision to such an extreme. It caused me so much stress when I was transferring that it actually prevented me from going to Temple at the time. Funny thing is, I ultimately transferred to Emory the following semester, which is 16 hours further away than Temple. Glad I did.

I got over it.

Also, DO not, I repeat, DO NOT put all of your eggs in one basket. It is great that you have a target school, but do not let that prevent you from being reasonable. Apply to other schools that you will be happy with and still academically achieve.

@Caliboy1234
Thank you so much. I really like Emory. Do you mind telling me more about the school and share your stats?

Also, do you think I will have the chance of getting accepted to Emory?

Once again, I deeply appreciate your feedback.

@ dreamerxoxo I hate to say it was rankings, but that’s how I found Emory. I am doing business and their program is fantastic. The only schools I would chosen over Emory are Penn and Cornell. Not a big fan of public schools. You have to do your research about your specific major though.

The best thing about transferring to Emory is that they do not require prerequisites (at least for business), although I’m sure they look at the classes you have taken. This is unlike many schools in which require you to have ALL prerequisites filled. It is just unrealistic to have this all planned out.

My stats:
HS gpa: probably a 3.4 unweighted
College gpa: 4.0
SAT: 1650 (didnt retake because I applied on whim)
President of Student Govenment
President of Honor Society
Tons of community service

Ultimately, I busted my ass in college so far. Obviously, if you can prove yourself in college, I feel that Emory believes in you. My HS stats scared me (I didn’t care my first two years). However, I knew I had what it took to get into a top school, and I did just that.

@Caliboy1234
Thanks so much for sharing your stats. They look great! I wish you the best at Emory. Once again, thanks!

@Caliboy1234 any advice on the essays?

Be totally personable. They want to know you. Also, plan out your future in your essays. It comes off as focused and driven.

@SugarBubbleTea @Caliboy1234
Is the acceptance rate higher in the spring than fall? Also is the financial aid much less for spring than fall?

Depends on major. Business (I believe) is only available for fall. I don’t know admissions rate for spring vs fall.

Financial aid during spring is significantly less from my experience, since schools already disbursed money to other students (typically)
