Should I retake my ACT

I took my ACT and got a 32. I feel like I could get it up to a 34. However I am wondering if this will actually make a difference in helping my chances of getting into the schools I am looking at (Amherst, Emory, and Haverford) since I don’t have a GPA that matches the scores.

Weighted GPA: 97.219
Unweighted GPA: 94.05

If you think you can raise it 2 points I would re-take. Your unweighted GPA is 3.76 , still respectable, but a higher ACT it would definitely help. It is very difficult to compare GPA between high schools and you don’t mention the rigour of your classwork (looks like a slight boost) , that would also be a factor. For Emory 34 would take you to the 75th percentile.

@TooOld4School Thanks for the help. Anyone have any more thoughts.

For Amherst a 34 definitely puts you on the radar screen. 32 not so much

My daughter got a 32 also on her first try. She was aiming for 1% but 2% isn’t too shabby. Anyway, she is first going to take the new SAT to see if she can knock out of the park before trying ACT again.

Go for it! I’m in exact same boat, got a 32, think I can perform better. It’s far different than a kid who got a 34 and wants a 36.
