Should I take European History AP?

I’m currently a 9th grader. I was wondering if it would be beneficial for me, if I were to take Euro History AP. I don’t particularly enjoy the subject, but I thought it may help me get ready for 11th grade and 12th grade AP courses. I would learn to keep up with the work, however I would probably detest the subject. It’s AP, so my GPA would increase, but I know since I don’t like the subject much, I wouldn’t fare very well. I’m quite conflicted… So should I take EHAP?

Nope

if you don’t like the subject, I would not suggest taking it. what’s your schedule for next year like? you could take an easier AP, like AP psych, and it’s pretty enjoyable. Euro isn’t that hard, but if you hate the subject then it is absolutely grueling, with lots of memorization and comparisons. I don’t suggest AP history courses unless you love history, because they’re agonizing and painful and can get boring even if you do like them.
I’d say try for AP psych or an AP than you really enjoy the subject of. if you like science, double up on science courses and take AP bio. if you like language, try to take AP Lang. don’t take a course you’re going to hate, because it won’t prepare you. you will only see AP courses as boring and too much work.

Don’t load up on easy AP just to get the count up or tweak your GPA. If you think you’ll want a top college, show them you can do well with a challenging hs course load. If you aren’t thinking you’ll aim high, so be it. But most ask for 2-4 years of various courses.

9th is too early to state you detest courses you haven’t taken.

Next year, I can only take up to two AP courses- EHAP and WHAP/Humanities. So I’m taking Humanities/WHAP, Chemistry Honors, Precal H, Choir, French H, English H, and either EHAP or Art Honors…

I am taking AP Euro this year. Due to the course redesign that happened this year, my test was pretty easy (All I will say for fear of breaking a rule) however, it will be difficult if you don’t like history. You are essentially learning ALL of Europes history from the dark ages to post cold war, almost every country’s historys, revolutions, etc. its a lot of names, dates, and things to memorize and understand, and for me, my first exposure to politics of any kind. If you don’t like history, I would recommend AP Pysch intsead, as it is a social studies, and I have heard that it is an easier AP and is quite interesting (I am taking it next year) Really, just do the classes YOU want to do, not the classes you think colleges will want you to do. Colleges will see that you took classes only to please them, and vice versa.
