Should I take the SAT?

Last year, I got a 35 on my ACT. If you superscore my two tests, I have a 35 or higher in each section. That being said, I am planning on applying early action at MIT, Caltech, and UM-AA. My problem is that the latest I can take the SAT for my Caltech early action is the October test date, and I already have to take an SAT subject test that day. Should I ditch the SAT subject test(retaking a 780) that day in order to take the regular SAT, or should I just apply RD to Caltech, so that I can take both the subject test and the regular SAT?

I don’t see any point in taking SAT for admission after getting 35 in ACT, except for the National Merit verification purpose.

I don’t see a point in taking the SAT, either. I also don’t personally see a point in retaking a subject test that you got a 780 on, but it’s all up to you.

I know that a 780 on the sat math 2 is a good score, but I noticed that the 25th percentile on that test for the latest caltech class is 790 and the 75th percentile is 800.

Wow, that’s crazy, 75% of the class scored a 790 or above? Well, in any case, I don’t think it’s necessary to re-take either one, the difference between a 780 and an 800 is probably only two or three questions and the adcoms know that and wouldn’t penalize you for it. There is also definitely no need to take the SAT, a 35 ACT will serve you just fine. Your admission will hinge on other more intangible factors at this point (recs, ECs, essays), not test scores.

What was your PSAT score? High enough to need a SAT to validate it for NM?

My PSAT score was 194, so I’m pretty sure it isn’t high enough to qualify for any National Merit recognition.
