I just saw an interesting post on Facebook from Michael Cassara (he is a Casting Director in NYC - don't know him but he seems to be a prolific FB poster). Anyway, he posted:

"Just how many college showcases are happening on Monday, March 10th? So far I'm counting 7, but I think there's more than that. . . . I'm just saying - it would be nice if the schools coordinated a bit more... Also - speaking only for myself, but - is there a reason these things only tend to happen on Mondays and Tuesdays?"

Someone else came back with:

"They happen on Monday or Tuesday because Most schools are doing them on their spring break and they want to leave as much time as possible for the chance to hold meetings with industry while they are up here since most are flying back on Saturday or Sunday."

To which MC responded:

"Sure - I guess I just think the system is broken. When 10 schools are showcasing on the same day, we're all going to fewer and fewer - and so the potential for meetings becomes a moot point."

So as we all complain about the crazy process that is MT College Auditions, just know that things don't get any less nuts as you move on! You would think that if industry is wishing colleges would do things differently, that the colleges would listen, and try to make it as easy for industry as possible to view their kids. Doesn't seem to be happening though...
