when is the best time to start studying for them?
when do people take PSATS? what's the difference between that and the SATs?
and what happens if you haven't had algebra two by the time you take the sats.

and what's the best book to use to study from scratch? like the first and best book to use.

PSATs...October of your junior year. Results come back Dec-Jan. Main difference is that PSATs are shorter, but you can use it to gauge your possible score for the real SAT.

Prep start time is different for everyone...the book I used, RocketReview, suggests 3-4 months before the test, but start memorizing vocab any time before then to get a solid base.

Algebra 2 helps. But you can use prep books to pre-learn the material if you want. The SAT only covers some Alg 2 material, so there's some things you won't have to learn yet.

collegeboard's blue book. Review the info if you need to, but definately use it for practiuce tests / questions. vocab = grab everything you can, but i'd recommend you to start defining all words you don't know. You'll be surprised with a habit of definiing unknown words will diminish your dearth in vocabulary. dearth = SAT vocab.

I think the Official Guide of CollegeBoard should be used as the last prep book because I don't see any explanations, just the answers like A B C D. After I went over the review and took 2 practice test, I decided to move to Barron's Guide and then return to CollegeBoard later on.
