Sleeping in the living room

For those of you that've moved out of the dorms, have you ever rented a living room? I may do that and am wondering about your experiences

Well, I hung out with a friend in Santa Cruz for a week this summer where I slept in the living room. It was alright. I had to use an air bed and sleeping bag. The noise outside was kinda annoying. There was also no privacy, but hey, like there is any in the dorms right?. There were some advantages like being close to the fridge, microwave, etc. The only gripe I would have against doing that during college is that the overall social experience would be diminished.

Back when I was really young, my parents went to UCLA and we were in family housing. In those days, family housing was located across from the frats on Gayley in what was known as the "Vets", short for these little crummy two story barracks left over from WWII. Now where Pauley Pavillion Parking lot is located at Gayley and Strathmore, all up and down that street, going all the way east to nearly Westwood.

Anyway, these cheapo apts. had only 1 bedroom and no bath, only a shower. Four of us in that apt., the kids slept in the bedroom, and the parents in the living room. Very common.

Bottom line is, we dealt. The kitchenette was about the size of a postage stamp, but it was all good, albeit "cozy". We spent a LOT of time during the day outside, sometimes getting really creeped out by the skinned cats for science studies being dried out on the clothes line, but having great fun jumping off the roof of the shed where they had coin operated washing machines.
