What's sleeping like in college? Do people sleep a lot/a little? Do students come to class really tired and apathetic like in high school, or are they alert and able to perform their best?
I'm just really curious...

well i would guess alot of people do it in there bed and with there eyes closed

Your sleep cycle may change drastically in college. In high school I used to be an early morning person-you had to be, because homeroom started at 7:30 a.m. In college the basic attitude is stay up late, and sleep really late. I'm a huge fan of the nap.

Before college: Sleep alone
During college: Sleep with other people

Sleep = good

I didn't sleep last night and now I'm really sick today, in a dorm where diseases spread like wildfire, your immune system needs to be in tip-top shape. I've probably been sick least of all my friends because I take vitamins and make sure to get as close to 8 hours of sleep as I can every night. It's much easier to do in college than high school though cause you might not start classes until 10 or 11. Also, you will have to adapt to your roomie's habits if you have one. Not much you can do if he goes to sleep early and you want to stay up - use a weak light or go to sleep yourself.

heheh--sometimes I think i sleep more in college, simply because in high school I had to get up every morning at 6:45am. So I may go to sleep regularly at 2am, 3am, but I usually don't get up until 10/11am. I waste A LOT of the day sleeping :(

Same schedule as HS for me...to bed around 1AM, up at 6AM.

In high school, I always got to school early to:

Find any sort of computer problems around the place

If that failed, see if IT had any for me

Reguardless of computer problems, flirt with all the hott freshman girls

In college, it's 8AM classes. I use the same schedule though so I can waste more time in the morning at home (like surfing the net, making last minute revisions on English papers, etc)

wow mactech, you certainly like your computers.... and u dont seem to get much sleep either, i couldnt live on 5 hours of sleep a night for a week, let alone a whole year.

I have heard to sleep over dorm room noise is to buy a small fan and put it near your head. It has a loud noise so that's all you will hear and it will knock out the dorm noise.

The amount of sleep you get depends on you. I value sleep a lot, so most nights I'm in bed around 11, sometimes earlier, sometimes later, but that's my average. Three days a week I sleep until 8, the other two I sleep until 7. Generally I go to bed earlier when I have to get up earlier the next day.
And naps are amazing. They are not just for kindergarteners

I like naps a lot, too, but how difficult is it to nap during the afternoon if your roommate and the rest of the hall is awake and (presumably) making noise?

if you're tired enough . . . it isn't, just keep your door closed

I find that the dorm is generally quietest during the day (before 5 pm), because everyone is either at class or...napping, I guess.

Hmm, I plan to sleep during the class and sleep during the night, so I can get enough rest to study!!
