Smith College Class of 2015 RD waiting Thread

I received an acceptance letter too! It came on Friday (Feb 25th), and like everyone else, it was a short snail mail letter that had a personal handwritten note from the at the end. My Common App personal statement was about the summer when I was a Girl Scout summer camp counselor and my Common App short essay was about ASB (my student council). I had a great alumni interview with an Ada Comstock Scholar. Just this week, I also found out that I am “likely” at Wellesley, so I’m doubly excited! Wellesley is the only other women’s college I applied to. Smith never asked which other colleges I was applying to.

I got a letter as well on Friday and was really surprised (and thrilled, of course!!) because I wasn’t expecting anything from Smith until April. The personal note said “love the picture of your llama.” :D

I wonder how many applicants have gotten this early admission letter?

Musicnerd, do you live in Madison?! I’m pretty sure I know who you are. I got a letter too…I’ll congratulate you in person. ;)

I got my acceptance on Friday for Smith! Happy because I got rejected to Wellesley like 2 days prior to that :/

Very excited!
Didn’t get a handwritten note though :/

Cutiepie, we have no way of knowing. However, this is a fascinating new admission strategy for strong candidates! I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I can’t help but wonder that many of you will receive STRIDE letters soon because of your stats. That would definitely be a jump ahead of what they did two years ago when my daughter received a STRIDE letter AFTER she got her “likely” Wellesley letter and BEFORE she received her fat Smith acceptance packet, so at first we were a bit puzzled because it wasn’t in the order we expected (Smith was her first exciting, real acceptance). Now admissions may be reversing the process to clarify acceptances first for strong candidates, then send out STRIDE letters, which would make perfect sense. If what I’m thinking is true, it also may be an effort to increase the yield on STRIDES (and of course to respond to attractive offers from other colleges). So SmithieandProud, MomWaitingForNew, TheDad, CrewDad and Mini, whadaya think? No matter how Smith slices it, I must say I really like the personal comments on the letters. Very nice! The personal touch was something my daughter had really liked from all her communication with Bryn Mawr, so perhaps Smith is doing the same. Congratulations again to those who have received acceptances! I’m really happy for you all! And the rest of you, hang in there; I’ve got positive vibes going your way. :-)

It said something about A great Smith Tradition. Rally day etc etc.?

Count me in! I can’t believe we have less than a month until we know our decisions now! I’m so excited.

I got that email today  I also got an email about an accepted students chat from 7-9 EST tomorrow, bummed I can’t do it though cuz I have to work tomorrow night!

Does anyone know when previous STRIDE letters have been received. Smith is, by about a million miles, my number one school but I received a full tuition scholarship to another school so I’m really hoping for some good financial aid.

A review of prior threads indicates that the Stride Scholarship Award letters are sent by Smith College often about 7-10 days prior to the release of the regular admission decision
results. Based upon the information gleaned from those who received “early writes”, it would appear that the Stride letters will be received aroun March 15 .

I got my STRIDE letter in PA on March 20th. It was dated March 18th

Did you get accepted before you got the Stride notification or afterward? This early RD acceptance sounds like it is new from I want I have been reading on this thread.

My STRIDE letter was my notification of acceptance. Although I got my “official” letter later

Hey guys, just so you know, I just got an email saying they were sending out your STRIDE letters sometime in the next week
You’ll definitely have them by March 23rd!

Oh goodness. This is when the panicking starts
fingers crossed

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

/freakout

Did anyone else get a t-shirt in the mail?

No! I’m jealous!

I just checked the mail and I got a t shirt too

The note that came with it was hilarious
“Smith College fits you to a tee”
