yea and2006, i feel the same way

astrife, i'm having the same thoughts. except i'm setting my reliance on other colleges that are equally competitive. haha. but i'm just hoping i'll get into at least one of the places i'm applying to. i don't mind going somewhere else because i highly doubt i'll get in to jhu which IS [soon to be was] my dream school.

How many applicants usually get accepted during ED period?

Don't give up yet guys, have some hope, anything is possible as long as you stay confident. If we deserve to be in the school and are qualified, nothing will stop us from being accepted. There are 10 more days, I'm sure we can wait 10 days instead of throwing the towel in before judgement day even arrives. Be confident guys, just be confident. Also to answer jose's question, it seems this year probably 350-400 students will be accepted early decision, since the 55% admission rate is totally unplausible for this year (it will probably hover around 35-40%).

I am preparing for the worst... but hoping for the best...

Since there are soo many more applicants, does this mean that the adcoms are going to have higher GPA/SAT/extracurricular/etc. standards?????

Depends on the QUALITY of the pool of ED applicants.

If a lot of mediocore applicants applied (I doubt this happened) then the standards may not increase that much. However if the pool is as good as that from years past, and just supersized, the adcoms will be more picky since there will be more qualified people fighting for the same spot in the class of 2010.

Laxfan...any idea about the quality of the ED applicants this year? Stronger than last year, about the same, weaker?

i'd rather not even freaking know... just give me my letter... enough with this speculation....

Have a plan: Ice cream to celebrate. Ice-cream to mourn. It's win-win. :D
