So I am an idiot...

I'm currently a freshman at UCSD, so this is directed towards more experienced current students.

...I am stupid, and I failed a math class that I needed for a GE. Should I just retake it this quarter to save my GPA? There's a class offered at my community college during the summer that I believe transfers, but it starts before I'm moving off campus (I already bought the tickets and everything). So...I am in a predicament. I've also never had to retake a class at UCSD, so how does retaking a class work? Does the new grade replace the old grade in the GPA?

Should I just retake it while what little I learned is fresh?

Please please please help because I need to enroll into the math class SOON if I'm going to retake it.

Thanks!

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe you cannot retake a class for regrade at another school. That only works at the school you didn’t pass the class at and then retake it at the same institute. This was how my community college handled regrades, and I’m pretty sure this is how most universities do too. You just need to retake the class, and it’ll replace the previous grade. I think the grade still shows on the transcript, but it doesn’t affect your gpa.

So I should definitely retake the math class this upcoming quarter at UCSD, yes?

I’m sad. I’ll have to drop one of my classes that I was looking forward to taking. :frowning: Must face the music.
