So I just realized my GPA will be totally ruined

So I came into school today and I talked to my Geography teacher about how he's doing and stuff, and he talked to me about reports and exams, and he said he's already filled out my report. So I was like, what did I get? He said oh you're not getting a grade this final semester, just personal comments, the junior year grade will come right from your A Level score. This is a real surprise for me, since before the exam week I was approached by almost all of my teachers and they told me that I'll be getting an A in their class. I was really excited because this secured my GPA.

This is going to kill me.

I always turn up top of classes, but I can't take standardized tests! This is really something I should have gotten over since I'm already approaching senior year, and there is really no excuse for this :P

The fact that I achieved 100% scores in almost all my class assignments is now going to be meaningless because instead of a letter grade from the teacher to contribute to my GPA, I'm only getting a comments report.

I don't think there's much I can do now, in August my A Level scores will come out and, instead of straight A+s, the A Level scores will be my grade for the final semester of junior year.

Sorry if I'm ranting, I really am actually lol, but I just feel I really have to express this surprise. I really have no idea how much my A Level scores are going to turn out to be, but surely I believe they won't be straight As. God, this could bring my GPA from 3.9 down to 3.6!

I’m sure it will be fine, just talk to your teacher about it and say the same thing that you just wrote here. Talk about how it’s unfair that a single test should determine your entire semester, that testing is a poor indicator of actual knowledge, that you had a bad testing day, that you can’t take standardized tests well, etc.

Cry me a river…

Oh no, a 3.6 what ever shall I do? SHUT THE **** UP.

You say that you’re bad at standardized tests, which are almost universally required for American college admissions. It makes me wonder how you did on the SAT/ACT. Another thing: it always sounds a little silly to me when people say that they can’t do well on standardized tests but are great at school tests. “It’s the wierdest thing. I always do great until my skills are objectively compared to other students’!” :)

What are A level scores?

An A in your school isn’t a 4? An 4 in my school is 90-100%

wow your GPA is still good

Yeah, I don’t understand standardized test un-takers either. But that does suck, I’m sorry. Practice taking standardized tests! It’s a crucial skill, and all you need is practice to get better at it.

I suspected it was some random british thing…

Have fun flipping burgers the rest of your life.
