So why does everyone want to go to boarding school? :)

I know I definitely wanna go because of various reasons like
-stellar people there
-great atmosphere
-fuhmazin' teachers
-the opportunities<3
-a better education overall
-you can do things you actually want to do without having to limit yourself to basically ONE thing. (like I do right now...gahh)
& stuff of the sort.

but why do yall want to?

I'm interested in knowing!

:]

STATEYERREASONZPLZ!

Here r my reasons (Im applying for 9th grade at exeter)

 1. My school is not much of a challenge now
 2. I’ve been going to school with the same 50 people for 8 years now and its getting boring
 3. I know the education is a lot better at boarding school
 4. I’m really into music and the music department there is a lot better than the one at my school.
 5. I want to learn Chinese but my school doesn’t offer it
 6. Last but not least, I want to live alone (not alone but you know what I mean) and make my own decisions. Im getting tired of my parents bossing me around all the time… even though I love em.

Niiice.
Hahah #5.

haha. kanichiwa… thats all i got…

isn’t konnichiwa japanese for hello? … lol.

because public education here sucks so HARD.
example :
student 1: “did you finish science homework yesterday?”
student 2: “um. no… i think it used it to clean my nails”
student 1: “oh darn. i lost it when i burnt it with my flat iron!! eeek”
student 2: “it’s okay. we can skip. LET’S GO TO STARBUCKS INSTEAD!”
student 1: “EEP! YOU ARE SO SMART!”

you know. :frowning:
2. opportunities and people, obviously. the connections you might make at BS are priceless… the ECs are amazing, too. like… where else can you take latin, crew, german literature and pop culture classes all in one day?! ahah.

haha yea i just realized that. So i got nuthin then. ha

So getting into Montana Community College does not become an achievement.

lol that was funny

Yeah the varsity football captain guy, who is an amazing athlete just a bad person, from last year went to Comm C. He was too cocky for state and stuff so he applied to big ivies and Stanford hoping for a recruit athelete spot. Everyone thought he would get into one of the eight but he got rejected straight through.

He must have made a TERRIBLE impression during interview. He could have made all American and would have been one of the best in the league.

You don’t get rejected to 9 schools if your a future All-American and come from prestigious boarding school. Unless your tlking about someone from your school currently

The schools he got rejected were all Ivies/HYSPM schools. He DOES NOT come from a prestigious BS, and he has a bad personality.

DiveAlive:

PAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA I agreeee! Man public education totally sucks.

principalviola:
:open_mouth:
Danggg, I mean I highly dislike cocky people, but I didn’t know being cocky could really kill your chances of getting into the Ivies THAT badly.
That must have sucked for him, but then again…who could blame the admissions people?

Thanks to everyone who replied:)

Yeah and konnichiwa is Japanese. xD

haha yea thats y i wanna learn chinese… luckily i said that 2 CC and not during my interview.

WHY I WANNA GO TO BOARDING SCHOOL by me. (hahahaha.there goes one of my weird jokes again)

1) Tired of my parents bossing me around all the time
2) I can’t stand the weather here (grrr.)
3) Boarding School sounds really cool =]]
4) You can meet a lot of different people from different countries and experience different cultures
5) I want to be INDEPENDENT
6) My public school is very suck-ish.
7) Hopefully, I’ll meet a prince charming, or someone who’s close enough (wink!well, my number one choice right now is an all-girls school, so I guess I can cross that out of my list.lol)
8) I want to learn how to speak more than 5 languages  [I can speak 2 fluently, one language is very much similar to Spanish, so i guess i can KINDA speak 2 1\4 languages.hahahaha.and i’m taking French right now.My school only offers two languages.
9) I want to move to a state where there are actually more people than cows or deer
10) JUST THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE AND ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES =]]

asiankid29:
7) Hopefully, I’ll meet a prince charming, or someone who’s close enough (wink!well, my number one choice right now is an all-girls school, so I guess I can cross that out of my list.lol)

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

HAHAHAHAHA that made my day.

9) I want to move to a state where there are actually more people than cows or deer
And where do you live?

hahahahaha:)
so my weird jokes actually worked… :]

vermont.yes, it is a state.hahahaha(:
i always have to have a follow-up phrase, because no one seems to know where vermont is.hahahaha =]]

i am actually starting to believe that the cow population here is bigger than human population.lol. :))

BAHAHAHAH that was fuhmazin, what you said right there:]

Oooooh Vermont. Excitamating. Wow, you’re really up north!

I live in Texas…TOTALLY different temperature range.

Loool I thought Vermont was like…idk…clams?
Like clam chowder?

I thought cows were a Texan thing ahah xD

hahaha.oh yes, i totally get that.people don’t know what vermont is…and that’s why i love it! it’s really safe here, nothing bad happens. well, to tell you the truth, nothing EVER happens here.lol. (i sort of enjoy making fun of my state.hahaha)

oh, sweet, texas! i want some warm temperature…<33 haha we live near canada
do u live near mexico?hahaha :]

what schools are you applying to?

oh geez, thanks! hahaha. :]] i try my best to be funny…

LOL. how is vermont bad? vermont seems fine, as does texas (although when you say texas, i automatically think Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. or something like that…)

i live in canada! try having people ask you SERIOUSLY if you live in an igloo.
um, no. for the record, i do not.
<_>

i guess the basic reason is academics. like… yeah, public school? some are great schools (like… thomas jefferson!) but my local school is terrible to say the least. D’:
