Social On-Campus Housing/Dorms?

Hello all.

I was recently admitted to UF as a transfer student. I am looking to live on campus for a year in order to learn campus, the in's and out's of Gainesville, and most importantly, to meet people.

I come from a very social, fun, and entertaining environment where "partying" is a norm. Now, being from out of state, I do not know anything about UF in terms of campus and dorm situations.

I have done the dorms before, living with 3 other guys in a studio-type dorm at Central Michigan University. It was a blast and I enjoyed my time in the dorms; however, I lived in a very social and fun environment. There was always people to hang out with, party with, do things with, whatever...

It is my understanding that the freshman dorms such as Broward and Jennings are the more populated dorms. What dorms are there to choose from that offer a very social and fun environment? What dorms are populated? What dorms are recommended for such a "lifestyle"? Any input is appreciated. I want to have fun, and always be involved with something with people from my dorm. I do not want to be bored at all!

I do not mind being the older guy on the floor, that is a sacrifice I am willing to take in order to have fun.

Also, are there other upperclassmen dorms that are just as social? Are dorms Co-Ed floors, it would suck to have segregated gender floors and dorms.

Any suggestions, statements, advice, or help is truly appreciated! I have room assignment coming up very soon, and I want to make sure I am heading in the right direction. I want a fun, social, party-atmosphere dorm life situation, nothing boring like quiet, honor's dorms.

Thanks!

I know it sounds cliche but I am serious, lol.

Broward would be better than Jennings (Jennings has a lot more girls than boys), but you would be the oldest by far, not to mention, a lot of those kids will be pledging for frats most of fall semester and will be very busy… but the floors are not coed, as far as I know. Dorms with more upperclassmen like Springs, Keys, Murphree and Beaty Towers are probably not as social or as crazy as Broward, not to mention at this point in room selection, they’re probably full, from what I’ve heard from friends who live in those areas. You may have a better experience living off campus with people closer to your age who you can share similar experiences with, maybe somewhere near downtown like The Courtyards, or Jefferson (now called 2nd Ave Centre…may be full at this point in the year, though).
