Someone at my school already got in; what are my chances now?

Hello! I am a bit worried now about my chances at MIT because someone in my school has already been accepted EA. MIT typically does not take too many students from my school (no one for the past two years) and I am worried that because they’ve already taken one student, they will no longer take me. Is this a valid concern, or am I just being paranoid?
Thank you!

The latter. Your chances are exactly the same as they were yesterday. MIT (or any other college) does not have a quota/min/max of students per HS.

I tend to agree with the above comment.

skieurope has it right

I come from a region that sends maybe one person to MIT once every several years, but recently we actually sent 2 kids, one EA and one RD.
