Someone HAS to know the answer to this..

I had a question about my eligibility for UCSD tag.
I attended sjsu last year and transferred back to my jc this semester.
I know I'm fine for ucd, however I had a question regarding the statement:
"you have to complete at least 30 semester UC-transferable units at a CCC".
Does this mean I have to have these 30 done before I submit my TAG app?
When I tag next fall ('13), I will not yet have 30 units done, but will be in progress.
So before I transfer I would have fulfilled the 30 units.
The units that I have completed at sjsu are indeed uc-transferable because they were certified and double checked by both the ucd counselor and dvc counselor.

the wording that they use is ambiguous and can really be interpreted in many ways, hence my confusion.

TIA

You need 30 by the time you submit your TAG application.

Yes, you need 30 UC-transferable units from CC only before you apply for TAG.

damn I was hoping someone has gotten by with it in progress.
oh well no ucsd tag fo meh

Given how important knowing the right answer is to your future, why aren’t you calling or emailing the people that you can be sure know the answer? Hint: they work in admissions at UCSD

@mikemac
who says I haven’t already done so?
also, I thought this was a forum where other students could share their past experiences with issues like mine.
If I was in search of a condescending reply, I would’ve tried elsewhere thanks.

If you had already done so and know the correct answer, why on earth would you ask again here? So “what says you haven’t done so” is the presumption you have common sense; I’m willing to concede I might be mistaken on that account.

This IS a forum to share experiences (which are not the same as facts, something that may have no distinction in your mind), but I am hoping you can enlighten me on why someone with such a literally life-changing question would turn to an anonymous forum to get an answer to this question – with no guarantee it is correct and no recourse if it is wrong --when the reliable answer is so easy to obtain?

@RUFFLZ
You called and talked to an admissions officer, but hoped they made an exception to the same requirements they confirmed for you? Typically, if there are exceptions or the requirements are flexible they’d let you know. As far as I know the 30 unit requirement is not flexible nor is any requirement regarding a minimum amount of units. Similar to how if you apply to a UC with a 4.0 GPA and 59 units instead of 60 you’re going to get rejected, even at UCM.

lol at you guys making all these assumptions.
I said “who says I haven’t done so”, meaning I emailed them a couple hours before I posted this and was waiting for the response FROM THEM all in the meanwhile I started this thread because I was hoping someone would get back to me a bit more promptly.
I never actually received a confirmation from them yet… still waiting.

i hope they give you a positive reply RUFFLZ. keep us posted, inquiring minds want to know.

Why the hell do people feel the need to post negative stuff on here. This is a forum to share experiences, information and to pass the time while waiting for decisions. Quit hating!

@ northbeach
will do

@usmc
hatas gon hate lol

@usm
i was wondering that as well, then i realized some folks need to get through this by posting a bunch of negative stuff. oh well, i love it all. but i am soooooo not sensitive. rufflz is tough, he can take the heat, ‘that is why he gonna get into CAL and UCLA.’ hahahaha i mean with a name like “Rufflz” they gotta take him.

Okay so I’m bumping this up because I have updated information.
The ucsd counselor I just got off the phone with told me the following: The 30 uc-transferable units that must be done at a ccc can be in progress during the submission of tag; they do NOT have to be completed before tag submission.

So in your face nay-sayers :)

@usmc0311 the reason why people give out answers like that is because they hate to repeat the same info over and over again, I’m not going to lie, I even dread repeating the same info over again, This is a ‘dense’ forum. That’s why if you go to other forums on the net, they put these 101 answers in the sticky, or sort of a Constant-Updated FAQ. They’ll just redirect them to the FAQ if the questions are similar

I believe we should try to answer everyone’s question, but if they started to ask the similar questions again and again (without looking past the pages and pages of the forum; meaning going back to 2 or even to 34 pages), just redirect them to the answered question or tell them to look back (I look back through the forum before I post a new one, to see if it has been answered already). Be that person who goes back through the forum before posting and don’t be lazy and don’t add more ‘unnecessary’ posts if your question sounds so general
