Something to consider

I was there. Don't buy the cheap Walmart Beef Jerky--it sucks.

Yeah it's there somewhere...across a Big K-Mart and near a ToysRus.

(Yeah I know it doesn't help==> www.walmart.com store search)

err...is till don't get it guys
Cheap and Good quality=College students should love it, right?

Beef jerky is kind of gross, regardless of brand.

Arjun, thought you were leaving ;).

naah...thought it over...i'm not leavin just bec i got into some silly argument in a forum

so in conclusion, wegman's = god.

thank you!

is that about the hockey team?

-\/Wal-mart\/
-pushes mom and pop out of business
-creates monopolies
-reduces choice
-blatanly breaks laws because it can afford the fines
-low quality items
-no customer service
-insanely long lines

^lol^

WalMart doesn't mix with the whole liberal collegetown thing. It is more popular where I live becaue there's a large hick population. I, personally, hate WalMart. Their food is crap and their clothes and the like are also, well, crap. Nothing good comes outta WalMart.

I do LOOOOOOOOVE Wegman's though! :) :)
Gomestar hit the nail on the head when he said they have great subs!! They are soooooo goooooooood!!!! The 14" subs... Holy God, they're amazing.....
Also, their health food section (for those of you who care about that as much as I do) is incredible. They have a lot of natural/organic foods that are SO good. Their fruits and veggies, deli meats, breads, are all AWESOME.

One more thing about Wegman's-- Their brand (the Wegman's brand) is VERY VERY GOOD. Do not shrug it off like most other supermarket brands. Their foods are cheaper and often much better than popular brand name stuff. The Wegman's brand will save you a lot of money.

i like beef jerky wal-mart is everywhere wegamens is expensive

i agree with blackferrari so much...the generic stuff is off the charts! down here the publix and winn-dixie cola is just awful. but wegmans generic stuff was usually better than brand name, and much cheaper

god i sound like a commercial

Wow, Wegmans really excites people.

Is there one in NYC? Ive never heard of it

I doubt it

no wegman's in nyc that i know of. we have wholefoods tho, that was mentioned in here. wholefoods is the bombdiggitylicious.

Another reason people may not like Wal-Mart is the environmental damage they cause. For instance, Wal-Mart has violated the Clean Air Act repeatedly--since 2001 they have paid more than $8 million in civil penalties and settlement costs in storm water cases brought on by the Environmental Protection Agency.

That's just the tip of the environmental iceberg, and I haven't even mentioned how their business model only exacerbates the low wage economy. The "lower prices" people pay for goods may not be as low as you think when you factor in the governmental programs that many of Wal-Mart's employees must go on.
Those are just a few additional reasons as to why some people (including myself) don't like Wal-Mart.

Wegmen's is so much better. I wouldn't sell my soul for a 75 cent stick of dried meat, but maybe for a bottle of that sour green apple soda...

haha, yeah. when i left they were adding new, rediculous soda flavours like mad.

but w-pop which was the big thing they had when i was much younger seemed to be fading.

walmart also kills small businesses in poor areas and have illegal immigrants working for them the list goes on....

Seriously, I love the sour green apple soda, its really good. I don't really live close to one so I get the soda on rare occasions.
This Tuesday a Frontline episode is airing about Wal-Mart. I am trying so hard to hold back a full scale political rant about Wal-Mart.

I've never been to wal-mart, it scares me.

wal-mart terrifies me. but i have no money, so i've conquered my fears

Wal-mart doeswn't kill small businesses. It revitalizes towns and helps to reinvent them. With the surge of money that gets pumped into the local economy only good things are bound to happen. So what if they throw a little bad water into a stream? You simply cannot beat their prices and from what you said it seems they paid their dues for the water thing. I try to get to a Wal-Mart daily to stock up on goods. For all those who have never been to a Wal-Mart you really need to try going those friendly elderly people that greet you are unbeatable!
