Sophomore Thread

yea sophmores!! My school doesn't offer AP classes until junior year but here's nxt yr's classes:

APUSH
Honors Pre-Cal
Physics (no honors or AP available)
AP Eng.
Honors Latin IV
Advanced Phycology (1 semester)
Advanced Sociology (1 semester)
Band/Chorus (required to have music/arts)
Pysical Education (required all 4 yrs)

^ lolz, sad that you gotta exercise for four years.

Since when was exercise a bad thing? :D

I loved having Basketball in my schedule. It was a great way to relax, and step away from my classes. I had it 6th period every day and it was awesome knowing that i only had to endure one more period of the day after lunch.

I am a senior (thank god), but I truly hope you guys do well this year. A good sophomore year will propel you into a successful junior year, and into applications.

I remember sophomore and junior years, struggling to stay awake just to do homework late at night. But now, i stay up past 4AM every night, just because i waste so much time. Good luck everybody.

Sophomores, what English are you taking senior year if you're taking AP Eng. as juniors? My d's school only offers one AP English. Should she take it junior year or senior year?

Junior year is gonna be tough. Get ready for it.

I think I should create a junior thread lol.

mom22girls: the only reason I'm taking AP Eng. Junior yr is because my school allows 8th graders who qualify to take high school courses while still in middle school. As far as your d, she should take whenever she wants. If she's only taking 1 or 2 AP's nxt yr she should take it junior yr so she doesn't overload herself, but if she isn't taking any AP's senior take it senior yr. It reallly depends on the courses she's going to take I think.

"Sophomores, what English are you taking senior year if you're taking AP Eng. as juniors? My d's school only offers one AP English. Should she take it junior year or senior year?"

It's your daughter's choice. Maybe she could talk to a guidance counselor and see what they think.

My school offers two AP English classes: AP Language and Composition for juniors, and AP Literature for seniors, so those are what I'm taking each respective year. I guess schools are really different in what AP's they offer and when.

Going into 9th grade, guidance suggested my daughter skip 9 grade honors English because her scores were so high. She did that, which means that now the usual progression would be from 11 H which she is now in to AP English. I don't have much faith in the current guidance people to advise us properly. She could take a 12 honors english next year and AP English the year after. I'm just wondering if college might look on this as strange...

hey guys, what are we going to do when we become juniors in the next few months? the thread is still gonna be called "sophomore thread". i have this research paper that i have been procrastinating on thats due tomorrow. hopefully i can get an hour or two of sleep.

Well, I guess we move onto the Juniors Thread and the new sophomores take over.

I really should be doing English and Chemistry. I resent this Chemistry homework so much, the only reason being is that it wasn't given by my regular teacher.

mom 22- You may want to post in the parents forum to get additional invaluable suggestions.

"Well, I guess we move onto the Juniors Thread and the new sophomores take over. "

but next years sophomores are this years freshmen! gross =O

Hmm... next years courses look something like..
(we don't have honors classes, just accelerated courses)
AP Calc BC
Accelerated English III
Acc. Spanish III
Acc. Physics (planning on taking AP Physics senior yr)
American History II (APUSH is for losers :( )

I go to junior year in June. Wheeeeeee! (not)
