sororities

She's either in I Phelta Thi or I ATA TOMATA

Even I think it's obvious (translation: I'm old, so it shouldn't be so easy for me!) These are the types of remarks I was referring to in the Caveat Emptor thread.

Hi Dillon,
in looking through your posts, one refers to your daughter who lived in the townhouses. having a daughter who is in college puts you somewhere around the age of my parents, i.e very old. i don't understand why you feel the need to be on the thread that i have posted on, especially if all you can do is make disparaging remarks about someone who is probably 30 years your junior. thanks though.

And Tahoe, i read your caveat emptor thread and i think you are mostly correct in your views. That being said, i also think you would be surprised which house i am in. :)

That's pretty weird/creepy, Dillon.

Princess8718: Thanks for the smilie and not taking the comments personally! Since I do not use the private message feature of this board, I'll never know the answer! Glad your enjoying your experience with your sorority.

my bro tells me how kappa kappa gammas are madd sexy. is this true>? and do they have a myspace page so that i can put em in my top 8 :)

i'm going to assume you were joking about the myspace page....

if anyone else has any sorority/rush specific questions feel free to pm me or ask on here :)

Princess,
If you had to recommend fall/spring rush, which one would you choose? Like I said before, I'm a spring 07 transfer. I'd like to rush, but it may be a little crazy this semester because of transfer orientation events, etc.
Thanks.

Most sororities don't do fall rush; only houses that need more members do it (typically not great houses).

definitely rush in the spring if you want to be in a house! dont worry about missing transfer orientation stuff, meeting your pledge class and pledging events will introduce you to tons of people too, so dont worry about that! i think joining up with a sorority may make you feel more at home at cornell immediatley, you have a group of friends and you can always meet new people in your classes/intramurals etc.

like spanks said, fall rush is for houses that dont make quota so its a toss up if a house will even participate; and usually it is only sororities who are struggling for more members.

do you know when we are going to receive informational emails that they said would be sent out? oh and what house are you in?

To those of you who think i have a reading comprehension problem- i'm not telling which house i'm in. :)

The informational emails you should receive soon, but they arent very informative. From what i can remember the emails basically told you when the informational meeting before rush officially starts is. The meeting is where you will get most of the info about rush, including dress code, schedule, answer any questions, and you will meet your rho chi group.

are dues more expensive than general housing and what does the whole psi chapter, chi chapter thing mean?

That denotes the order in which the chapter was founded, relative to the other chapters of the house at different schools.

The cost of living in a sorority house, including dues room and board, is roughly equivalent to the cost of living in a dorm. most are cheaper, though the specific cost varies house to house. during rush, each house will give you an idea of the finances associated with being an active member for living in/living out.

if i rush and accept a bid, and later decide i don't want to pledge (for whatever reason..time, not right fit, etc), could i rush again in the future?

I'm pretty sure you can't rush again if you accept a bid. You can rush the year after if you don't accept the bid you were offered.

actually as long as you are not an initiated member of a sorority you can rush again. if you are an initiated member of a certain sorority you can never join another npc organization.

however you can sign a bid card and rush again but you do have to wait one year. so if you rush, accept your bid and begin pledging, then de-pledge, you cannot rush next january ('08). however you could rush in fall '08 bc more than a year has elapsed.

rush week is next week.. who's excited?!

princess can you give us a rough estimate of the time we will be spending out on each day? i just want to know because i have an interview that week and the lady wants to schedule it now but obviously i cant because idk the schedule

i'm excited!! :)

the schedule varies... if you could get the interview monday that would probably be good bc all you will have is the info meeting which is (most likely) at night. tues/wed/thurs/friday plan on going all day, i dont remember the times but they are basically the entire day...not good for an interview. saturday, depending on how many pref parties you have, might be good. i think saturday's times were like 1-5 . sunday there's nothing but bid night. wait until you get your schedule though bc it might be set up so you can get your interview in during an off time. though if you could set up the interview for after rush week that would be good bc you are going to be sooo tired from it. good luck!
