I kind of want to know now so that I can buy some clothes and a nice dress/outfit for the final rounds.

Tuesday: nice jeans, cute top cute shoes, nice jacket/bag (you wont hold them inside but still)

Wednesday: same as tues

Thursday:business cas, but cute. maybe black pants and a cool top

Friday: slightly nicer, skirt and cool top/sweater jewelry heels
Saturday: dress, what you would wear to a semi formal, heels

Bid Night: jeans and tee. they give you a tee which you might wear but its a sister/sister event so look cute but its not super dressy.

remember this is dressing for girls, so nothing slutty, gross, trashy or cheap looking. all of that will count against you. make it classy, cute , and as nice as you can make it. rush is superficial not gonna lie

if its something you would wear to a frat party, leave it home. if your mother would think it was slutty, don't wear it. make sure its something you can wear, be (semi) comfy and super cute in. accessorize as best you can without being hideous. absolutely do not try to give the sorority the impression that you want them by wearing their colors! creepy! if you think the outfit is "off-beat"or "original" don't wear it. unless you are one of those girls who can do that and look awesome, dont even try. get a friend who is way more stylish than you/honest to evaluate your outfits. it will be fun!

i'm sure someone deep (probably dillon the middle aged man) will decry this post for being ridiculous and superficial- it is. but you asked for it, and here it is. if you are offended by shallow girls, why are you reading a sorority thread?

thanks princess, but for Saturday, if I don't want to wear a dress, what are my other options? can I put a classy yet cute outfit together instead of wearing a dress?

yes i think so, but it should definitely be on the same level of formality as a semi formal cocktail dress would be. and most of the other girls will be wearing dresses.

hahaha..I really want someone to do this so I can have a good laugh.

After ranking my top three houses, is it very likely that I will get a bid from my first choice house? Do most girls end up at their first choices? Thank You.

also, other than a dress for the final round, could you give me an example of a nice outfit I could wear instead?

for the formal dress, is it kind of like evening cocktail wear, or business dinner/interview type wear? because you said like what you would wear to a formal but some of those are like poofy skirts or crazy colors and cuts

i think most girls do end up at their #1 pref...not sure though. that kind of statistic might be on the cornell site. and if that specifically isn't you will at least see the % of girls who got bids. i'm pretty sure stats like that are posted on their site.

the formal dress should be more of something you would wear to a cocktail party and less of something you would wear to a business event. not ridiculous colors or insane styles, just use discretion and you will be fine.

if you don't want to wear a dress, then wear black pants i guess....or some type of dressy pants and top ensemble. at least wear cool heels if you aren't wearing a dress. that said, while no one is going to force you to wear a dress, i believe that is the outfit they recommend (read- why wouldn't you do it) for pref parties.

what exactly are mixers like? Are they just like frat parties (dancing and drinking) except with less people and better drinks?

yeah, they'll often have themes though.

what kinds of themes does your frats' mixers have?

Typical mixer themes follow several formulas:

1) Alcohol based mixers (note, most mixers are a subset of this class of mixers, the most basic type being the ever popular beer in the basement mixer, guys and girls get wasted, pretend to be interested in one another’s conversation, poorly dance/grind/do the Cornell shuffle, attempt to fornicate )

2) BLANK guys and RHYMES WITH BLANK hoes
Such as CEO's and Business hoes (these are attire based themes, guys do whatever and girls dress slutty)

3) Bondage based mixers (i.e handcuffs and Heinekens, again guys do whatever and girls dress slutty, except they are supposed to be forcibly attached to each other)

4) Messy based mixers (i.e paint mixers or foam mixers, guys and girls do whatever, get messy, and take of their clothes)

5) Social probation based mixers (mixers where the sorority is on social probation, usually a painfully awkward alcohol free mixer where some innocuous activity such as dinner or bowling is performed, guys don’t show up for these in large numbers)

6) We’re too hot for you mixer (mixer where lower tier fraternity finally convinces that really hot sorority to mix with them, shelling out exuberantly large sums of money for some gala extravaganza mixer, only to find that the sorority either doesn’t show up or sends their 3rd string group of ugo gorilla looking girls who you didn’t know they even had

formals sound pretty cool.
1) i know frats have less mixers than sororities and sororities have a lot of mixers for pledging, so how often do frats/sororities have mixers?
2) do a lot of people hook up during mixers?
3) what about formals?

How do 50+ sorority girls get to these mixers since most sorority houses are located on North Campus. Do all the girls walk all the way to West Campus or is there a bus to bring them there or something? Because I don't want to walk all the way from North to West dressed in some slutty costume in the cold lol.

Helicopters air lift you. If you don't like the cold, stick to north campus fraternities, or better yet, transfer to FSU.

hahaha im sure there will be people driving or something... a bus haha

what time do we have to wake up each day to visit the houses? and what time do we stop?

how often do sororities have mixers? im assuming sororities have more mixers because there are less of them
