Two questions unrelated to each other. Just don't want to annoy people posting 29 topics.

1)Anyone know anything about the Spanish program? Right now I'm in Spanish 2200 (Int. Spanish I), but I got a 4 on the Spanish AP, which according to my charts means it is "suggested" I take Spanish 2240. Does anyone know if Spanish 2200 is really easy, or is 2240 really hard? Can I just stay wear I am, or are the Spanish people in charge of placement going to switch me to a higher level?

2) I just found out my roommate is no longer going to UF (I'm living in Hume). I know, I know, the email says "if something changes we won't have time to send you another email". But in a few weeks, is there a number I can call or something to find out what's going on? Am I stuck in a single or am I getting a new roommate? I was counting on having someone to talk to about appliances and such :-(.

1.) You can stay in SPN 2200, no one is going to make you take SPN 2240. In fact, I think it's better that you take SPN 2200, college language courses are hard and move really fast. SPN 2240 will expect you to know your prerequisite material backwards and forwards. You meet every day with homework everyday. The professor expects a lot out of you.

The Spanish program is pretty good, you can actually major in it (some only have minors) and there are study abroad programs that you can take advantage of during summers.

2.) They're probably put someone else in there (perhaps from a temporary triple who wants to live in Hume) or someone else with no roommate whose already in Hume. I doubt you will end up by yourself, but if you do, you will still have your suitemates (2) who live within the same unit as you.

Try this number to see what's going on:
(352)-392-6011

Thank you for the advice! I'm going to wait a few weeks before bugging UF for information, since I'm not sure my roommate told UF yet she's not going.

I know they are very, very strict when it comes to your experience before beginning spanish classes, but I dont think they are as strict when it comes to intermediate.

Agree with the above, you will get a new roommate.

While on the Spanish topic and the roommate, I have two questions.

1) I was reserved Spanish 3300 Composition as my Honors Course. However, I didn't take Spanish last year because I had completed my high school's Spanish program by junior year (Spanish I - V) and there was no course available for me to take during senior year. I was fairly fluent at the end of my junior year and have been to Mexico twice on exchange trips. I didn't use it that much last year, though and I'm rusty at best. I haven't taken any type of SAT II or placement yet, so just wondering if anyone had any ideas on here. My advisor, Vikram Rangala, said that it probably wouldn't be a problem. I doubt there is anyone out there that is in a similar circumstance so I was just wondering if anyone thought I would be ok in the 3000 level course.

2) Concerning the roommate issue, I was assigned a roommate and a room in Tolbert for Fall during the June 8th e-mail. However, Tolbert wasn't one of my top 3 choices and I had been told that being Honors not staying in Hume I was guaranteed my first choice, which turned out being false information. Anyway, I called the Housing office and they said that they would try to get me into East Hall (my first choice) and I would probably know by the June 30th e-mail. However, my June 30th e-mail stated that I was guaranteed housing but had not been assigned a room at this point. I assume this means I'm on a waiting list for one of my top 3 but just wanted to make sure this wasn't something I should be worried about.
