So, I got a letter in the mail today from the Office of Admissions, telling me that I am the recipient of a $6,000/year scholarship, called the Spartan Achievement Scholarship. Now, I tried looking on msu.edu, for more info, but can't track any down. How many people receive this and what are the requirements?

Did you take the ADS test? My stats are very similar to yours, and I haven't heard anything about merit scholarship money from MSU. I'd like to know about this too.

You will probably receive a letter later telling you more and telling you who to contact to accept the scholarship. I never heard of that scholarship before now. Congratulations!

No, I didn't participate in the ADS competition. The letter said this:

Based on your outstanding academic achievement, it is with great pleasure that I inform you of your designation as a recipient of the 2008 Spartan Achievement Scholarship. This scholarship, in the amount of $6000, is awarded annually for four years provided that you meet minimum academic criteria.

Here are the requirements:

-Limited to 8 consecutive semesters
-Must enroll and complete 12 credit hours each semester.
-Must maintain 3.0 GPA.

I just have never heard of it and was shocked.

When were you accepted?

I was accepted to Michigan State in November.
