Spring 2015 Applicants Unite

@emart95‌ you are able to register?! lucky girl! I am only able to look up classes but when I try to register it says that I will be able to start on December 16th :(

@mmhh789‌ Not exactly. When they first processed my deposit, I had access to registration. Idk if it was a glitch or what it was but it told me I could register at any time. So I went in and started and got to sign up for three classes. Then it stopped working and told me I can’t register for classes until the 16th. So I’m not sure wh but for now I have classes.

@emart95‌ haha okay, we´ll just have to wait until the official registration day.
have you applied for housing yet? how´s that process going? When I log into MyHousing page I can fill out the personal preferences and all that but there´s no button or anything to choose rooms or roommates. do you have any of those things on your account? I dont know whether to call residential life and ask if there´s something wrong with my account or just wait. what do you think?

@mmhh789‌ I finished the housing application. Did you fill out the form with all of the emergency contact info on it? Then you would’ve paid after that. That was the extent of the housing application. It briefly asks you it there is a specific roommate you have in mind and you can write in a name or leave it blank. Then it let’s you choose your room. They list all possible room options and my guess is they will put you in the one closest to your choice that’s available. If you didn’t complete that, then you didn’t officially apply for housing. You receive an email confirming your application in your FIT email.
When you’re in MyFIT, under the student tab, all of that would be under the housing section at the bottom, the link is “Fall/Spring Application.” If I didn’t address what your problem is, let me know. I’d like to help but I’m not sure if I 100% understand the issue.

Hey! I applied as a transfer student to enter the 2 year AMC program and I still haven’t heard back… I’m feeling very worried that something bad happened because it seems like nearly everyone has heard back so far, is there anyone else still waiting?

@emart95‌ thanks for your answer! I called residential life because in my payment account I saw that there was a charge for a “traditional room in nagler” plus a meal plan (which is not what I requested, I chose Coed double) and they told me that they are assigning everyone to nagler but that’s not the final decision. After January 4th they will assign us the real room where we will live, which as you said will be our choice or as close to our choice as they can.

@magc23‌ I would call admissions office and ask if they’ve made a decision over your application

@mmhh789‌ Oh, okay. That’s kind of odd. I emailed them because I was curious and haven’t received any responses (surprise). I just want to make sure that I actually get a room because like many others, I need one in order to go lol.

@emart95‌ please let me know what they tell you. Maybe there’s some useful information for me too. Thank you!

@mmhh789‌ Will do. If I don’t hear back by next week, I’ll probably give them a call and I’ll let you know what they say. It will probably be the same thing you said and I did hear that they’re charging everyone for Nagler rooms and then adjusting them after if there’s room in your ideal housing. I also heard from another new student who’s international and has applied for housing and heard back already that she requested a Coed double apartment and they had said that Coed is already very close to capacity and there is more room in Nagler but they will try to accommodate her the best they can.

@mmhh789 I actually just received an email from housing not in regards to my previous emails but in regards to my application. It told me my housing application has been accepted and added to my bill (went into my bill on MyFIT, it hasn’t appeared yet). Though you probably got an email that said the same thing, mine says “THIS IS YOUR HOUSING BILL. YOU ARE FINANCIALLY OBLIGATED TO THE COLLEGE FOR THESE CHARGES.
Please share this with your parent/guardians or anyone responsible for payment.
NO OTHER BILLS WILL BE SENT TO YOU OR TO YOUR HOME ADDRESS.
TOTAL BILLING CHARGES = $ 6185.00 per person, per semester Spring 2015 for an unassigned space.

I think this is what you were talking about, what the administer had told you when you called. The cost listed to be billed is the cost of a traditional double in Nagler, including meal plan. It does happen to answer some of my questions, but many of my original questions regarding this are left unanswered so I will probably call next week anyway. The thing that worries me is the part that says it is $6,185 for the Spring 2015 semester for an UNASSIGNED space. And they will REASSIGN me to the first available space in any of the residence halls once the spaces become available. I may not be understanding so additional input would be appreciated, but that sounds like housing isn’t guaranteed still. I do receive financial aid so it says I can use my housing application fee to reserve a space (which I thought happens automatically anyway). Idk?

@emart95‌ yes, they told me the same thing about Coed being almost full. They also said that they would try and assign me to Kauffman double if Coed wasn’t available. What residence hall did you apply to?

I had applied for a traditional double in Coed because for financial reasons this semester, I need a traditional style room. So, I will take a Nagler double if I have to. I just thought the idea of me having any male visitors use the women’s bathrooms kind of weird but I had talked to residence about that a while back and they said that it’s fine lol @mmhh

@mmhh789‌ Just realized I didn’t tag you properly, and on the last page I posted the email I got from housing with some questions

@emart95‌ I think that the fact that they are charging us for that amount means that no matter what, we’ll have housing. I wouldn’t worry about the unassigned space, I think it just means that we’ve been accepted to live on campus and now they just have to see what everyone requested as their preferred accommodation and reassign us to our official rooms.
(I don’t know if you are applying with a roommate, but in case you’re not we may get roomed together because we asked for the same type of room haha)

@emart95‌ do you know if there is any Spring 2015 accepted students page or group in Facebook?

@mmhh789‌ that makes me feel a little better lol but I will probably still give them a call to help straighten out the financial stuff. Haha I guess that is possible but there are probably a lot of people who did too so we can’t be sure. And I’m not sure. I haven’t seen one but I also haven’t really looked for one either.

@mmhh789‌ And I didn’t request a roommate because going random was just easier for me. They also officially billed my account for the Nagler room today and I was wondering if on your bill there are fees billed multiple times. Like, the tuition fees are listed twice, then because I’m a NY student not in NYC, they charge out-of-state tuition until the school receives a special form from your county (which I’m working on) and that fee was listed 3 times. There are athletic/recreation, student activity fees, all of them are listed 2 or 3 times. Do you know anything about that?

@emart95‌ In my account I´m only being billed for Nagler + meal plan, housing and tuition deposits (which have already been paid) and thats it. I dont have any athetic nor student activity fees.

@mmhh789‌ That’s weird. I have those fees, but then the external fees (which are normal, usually have specific fees for campus-related activities) are listed several times. I emailed financial aid to see if I can get an answer. So hopefully they will answer this week. If not, I’ll give them a call.
