Hi! I know this is early, but I know I will be applying to try to transfer in the spring and I didn’t know who else was thinking about it. I didn’t see a discussion, so I figured I would start one
I know a guy in my dorm who did it as well as a guy I went abroad with, both got a 4.0 their first semester at other schools and were able to live in the dorms 2nd semester. As I understand it, It’s pretty difficult compared to transferring in their sophomore year. Also know a third guy who went to a different school for a semester but his situation was a bit different because he’d been accepted, but had declined the acceptance.
I have a 3.9 cumulative after my freshman year. What makes it more difficult to come in during sophomore year?

Hey guys! I’m looking to transfer to Notre Dame for Spring 2017 too. Anywhere else you guys are looking to apply to?
@jonesby For now I am just looking at Notre Dame. If I don’t get accepted for the spring or fall 2017, then I will be looking elsewhere. How about you?
@confusedfrosh I’m looking at Notre Dame, Cornell, Amherst, and NYU for spring 2017 as of now. If I don’t get accepted to any of them, I’ll just apply to lesser reach schools for fall 2017.
Did you guys complete all of the recommended prerequisites?
@jonesby I completed everything but history and literature. What about you?
@confusedfrosh I’ve done everything except for a second math course. Hopefully that won’t be too great of a hindrance
@jonesby I think you’ll be fine if you have everything else. You could always take it once you get there!
@confusedfrosh True! That’s a main reason why I want to transfer for spring–get most of the Core requirements out of the way.
@jonesby That is a good point! I didn’t realize I could transfer there (grades and money) until applications were past due for this fall, so that’s why I am applying for spring.
@confusedfrosh Good luck! Hope to see you there. Kind of stinks a decision can’t be made until late December since final grades need to be sent in.
@jonesby Good luck to you too! I don’t know how it will work with my final grades because decisions are sent out before my final grades are in… When is your finals week?
@confusedfrosh December 16-19, is that too late?
@jonesby no, you don’t have any control of when your semester ends and I think they’ll know the final grades will come late! I am in the same boat and I am not worried.
@confusedfrosh That’s encouraging! I keep seeing Notre Dame all of the place of late, it’s getting me so excited!
@jonesby omg same!! I really hope I get in. I’ve been working like crazy in all of my classes so far this year to keep as high of a GPA as possible… Hopefully all the work pays off and we will both be there in the spring!
@confusedfrosh Same, it’s super stressful. Good luck!!
