Can the SSTP students go home on the weekend of July 4th?
The estimated acceptance rate in 2013 was 25%. But barely anyone knew about the program back then so now it must be lower. So about the same as a top 30 university.
I wasn’t able to get off campus. We didn’t have cars. But the uni is right in the heart of Iowa City so it was always lively
Free time: I felt I had enough free time. Played ball/went to the gym every day, hung out with the other interns, etc
My year accepted 20 sophs and 10 juniors
We had 3 international students from various countries in Europe
May you give me an idea of what you did on a day-to-day basis? Do you think the program was worth the cost? What did you want to study and did you get to study it?
I thought it was definitely worth it Each day consisted of ~7 hours of research and an hour or so of a class type thing on some of the days. They had a lot of activities like karaoke, boba, festivals, and water parks, and we had quite a bit of time to hang out amongst ourselves which was great. The people you’ll meet both in the lab and in the program are amazing! I studied a biology related topic and I definitely got a lot of experience and information out of it. Don’t be scared to ask your professor lots of questions (mine also had lots of candy and food in his office lol) and good luck!
