I want to complete the 161 things to do before you graduate Cornell.
Where are the Stacks that I am suppose to have sex in? Which library stacks? How do I get there?

lmao, I don't know where that all is, but if you do make a blog! haha

Ugh! What are the remaining 160....please post in detail.

I was in the stacks a lot as a senior.

Here's the list:

Having sex in the stacks is a bad idea. Every year there are always a few kids who get expelled for such nonsense. Don't be one of them.

I wrote # 15!

Of course that was back in freshman year when facebook was only open to Ivy League schools lol.

people have gotten expelled for this? hahaha oh wow.

i wonder how many people actually do this, and where.

The stacks refer the "stacks" of books in the library, in specific those at olin library. They are usually empty during the day and open 24 hours thus at night no one is there.

Olin is not open 24 hours. Olin closes at 2 am and going by the number of students I had to kick out at 2 when I did my closing rounds...it's not empty :-)

Uris is open 24 hours...but the stacks are closed at 2 am...only the cocktail lounge and fish bowl are open from 2 am to 8 am.

Where are the cocktail lounge and fish bowl?

so dewdrop you write"

Really? do you check all stacks? all levels? the upper levels like Level 7 or 8 of Olin libe is really creepy, and one time I was so tired/sleep deprived, I went up there and lied down between stacks. I slept for 4 hours, and almost didn't wake up , the bell doesn't sound as loud up there.

I almost got locked in the library!!!!

Yes....we did check all stacks before we closed them. 2 people go upstairs and make their rounds and 1 person goes downstairs to check Kroch and the asian reading room. I usually got stuck doing the lowers....it was very creepy. But the extra pay I got for working that shift made it worth it :-)

Dew -- Did you ever get up to the eighth floor of Olin? Creepy as hell!

my bad I was under the impression that they were open 24-7 I've never been their past ~12:30

now I really want to go investigating Olin.
would anyone look at my funny if I went up there?
(that is always my worry about exploring around Cornell, that all of a sudden I will upset someone's routine and be a bother.)

what I want to know about Olin is when did it become open to all people? Uncle Ezra things seem to indicate that it used to be closed off because they needed to request and shoot books down and stuff.

Yeah....I did it once when I filled in for somebody. Needless to say...that was the only time I volunteered for that person again :-)

Somehow I found myself going up there every other week when I worked the Olin Circulation desk. Sometimes I thought that people were just specifically finding material on the 8th floor to be a bother!

Faustarp -- There are a lot of really cool parts of campus to explore, including the cupcake at the CTA, the tunnels between Plant Science and Mann, and the secret corridor/hotel rooms in the Straight. You aren't going to get in trouble as long as you act a little lost if caught!

haha...I'm definitely glad my primary area was Uris....I had too much fun being in the middle of laptop rental wars :-)
