@CheckMate123 i already sent mine!
I don’t know why,but I’m feeling a little skeptical about this. I remember reading somewhere that Stanford advises against sending such letters; I’m not sure where. Plus, if I send in their optional update form too, then wouldn’t an additional letter just be redundant?
@CheckMate123 That’s what I’m thinking. I mean we all applied REA so they know Stanford is our top choice. Sending a letter saying that does indeed seem redundant.
Is the optional update form working for you guys? I’m getting an error when I try to open it.
Can you log in to your portal? @pillowspillows
I wanted to add something to my previous update form submission. I clicked edit (which gave the blank response boxes) so I just pasted in my previous responses with the edit and clicked submit. Now it shows that two different update forms have been submitted. I hope this isn’t a problem?
@misterstax yes
So your portal will show 2 forms with 2 green checks?
Have you guys submitted your forms yet? I haven’t submitted mine yet, but I just received a likely letter from Columbia. Do you think I should mention this in my form before reaffirming that Stanford is my top choice?
@cadaeibfe I wouldn’t. You shouldn’t let Stanford know you’re probably going to get into Columbia- that might make them skeptical of admitting you- colleges play the numbers game and want to maintain a high yield. You could just reaffirm its your top choice without mentioning columbia.
Yes, don’t mention it. They would probably internally respond with “Enjoy your time at Columbia!”
are you guys really saying stanford is your top choice? i read in most of the deferred threads/advice pieces for stanford that they don’t really like that, since its such a prestigious school.
Ok thank you!!
Hey, just another deferred student here! Just heard people from regular decision got likely letters, do deferred students get them too?
I just got a likely letter from Columbia as well. I’m not sure if deferred students at Stanford typically get likely letters, since our applications aren’t re-reviewed until March.
Also in a likely letter, when they say “maintain your current academic standing” what does that really mean? Does it just mean that I shouldn’t suddenly start getting Cs, or do I actually have to keep my GPA where it was when I applied?
Is the optional update form due today (Feb. 28th) or March 1st? Just putting some finishing touches, and would like to know if I can use more time.
Hey y’all class of 2020 student here who also got deferred (the wait/anxiety was real)!! Hmu with any questions you have, either about Stanford, the deferral process, etc
@sodapop027 did you send in a letter of continued interest?
How many of you deferred kids are legacies?
