@sodapop027 What was your Senior year like after learning you were deferred? Any insights on what lead them to make the admit decision?
@covert @CheckMate123 I did send in a letter of continued interest, did the defer form, and got an extra recommendation put it. I also had my college counselor send them occasional updates. I’m also a local and I did really well in sports last year, so they might have seen me/my name (I have a unique/crazy name) in the local newspaper. Keep in touch with your regional rep for sure, send them an update. ATTACH YOUR SUID AND COMMON APP NUMBER TO EVERYTHING AS WELL. If they can track interest they will…they need some way to distinguish between the perfect applicants they get.
Senior year was fine/fun. I was deferred from Michigan as well (as is everyone from my school, idk what it is) but I got in two weeks after (?!?! rolling admissions when you get deferred apparently) so I knew I still had a great engineering school to go to. I was bummed about Stanford, and jealous of the people who did get in (as happens, yes I regret it) but in the back of my head I knew I applied to schools I really liked and felt I could thrive at (17 also so I knew I had a good shot of getting in other places and having options). I kind of ignored it and focused on other decisions (and finding shortcuts to get them early) but I didn’t let it dictate my life at all.
I will say Christmas break was brutal (I wrote 7 apps) but that was the only real negative thing. There were some people that were jerks about getting in early places, but a) they weren’t my friends anyways and b) I didn’t really care.
Long story short–don’t stress.
Is it normal that when I click edit on my submitted Update Form, the answer boxes show up as blank? (This was the case in mid February a week after I first submitted) Does this mean that my form has been downloaded?
@alr33zy happened to me too. Don’t worry, I think it’s normal
@alr33zy yep it happened to me too! I think that means they downloaded our update?
In case anyone doesn’t know yet, decisions have been confirmed to come out on March 31st.
Did anyone ask their counselor to call Stanford and talk to them about you? I didn’t consider asking until now, and I’m wondering if it’s a possibility for me to ask/its not too late.
It’s too late. It would just smack of desperation at this point.
I’m nervous! I cannot wait for the 31st! I will probably be crying buckets from the night before…
@lifeonthefarm Same! We’ve come so far and gotten so close to admission with the deferral! It’s the final stretch.
@alr33zy I know! but this wait is just killing me inside!
I hope we all do well!!!
@lifeonthefarm 15-25% acceptance rate for deferred applicants? I’ll take it. We got this!
@alr33zy May the odds be in our favour! Yeah, we got this!
To distract ourselves, where has anyone gotten in already? Let’s be optimistic!

Hey everybody. I’m new to College Confidential, but I have been tracking this forum since I was deferred.
I hope everyone is able to shake off some of the worry until next week.
