@Zalo11 I couldn’t either! They must have had a glitch or something, can you log in now?
Hi! I live in Colombia and got deferred! I’m still really excited, let’s see what happens. Does anyone ( @callmesoon , @mmish321 , @shapeofyou ) knows if let’s say 15-25 out of 100 deferred REA applicants get accepted, or if we simply have a higher chance in the regular pool, so we are “competing” against the regular pool applicants? I mean, if we have 15%-25% chances among REA deferred applicants it’s kind of tough, whereas if we get 15%-25% chances among the regular pool applicants probably we’ve got a better opportunity.
Do you guys know if we can submit an additional letter of recommendation between now and the February deadline for the update form? If so, how do we doit?
@Pawrrrrrr I think you can send one, but there is no guarantee that Stanford will read it. If you look at the recommendations section under Stanford’s admissions page, they mention how you can send one and what needs to be in the letter. But do know, that the additional recommendation should have been submitted with your initial application so like I said, there is absolutely no guarantee that they will even read it and match it with your application. I would mention the letter in your February updates form so that Stanford knows.
@ppastram The 15-25% is how many of the accepted applicants to Stanford during regular decision were deferred applicants. If 15-25% of accepted applicants during regular decision are deferred REA applicants, then I think that we have a 15%-25% chance among the regular pool applicants. Either way, we do have a higher acceptance rate during regular decision
@mmish321 the Stanford website says you can only submit one optional outside letter of recommendation, but what if you already sent one during the REA process? Would it help if you sent an additional recommendation letter? (like a second optional letter of recommendation)
@spagettisauce I’m not sure how helpful a second letter would be and again, there is no guarantee that they will read it. I think that as long as you complete the February updates form and send in your mid year report, you should be good. Honestly at this point, that’s all you need to do. You don’t want to come off as super desperate, I don’t think that will appeal to Stanford.
It’s nice to see that I’m not waiting alone! Good luck everyone.
Does anyone know the word count for the optional update form?
Hey! Is anyone applying on ED2 to any other schools?
@zanfered I’m not, just doing regular decision to a bunch of other schools!
tbh I didn’t even know ED2 was a thing until you mentioned it.
Good luck to everyone! We’ve all made it so far so BE PROUD!
I heard the uldate form is optional and we can still get in without filling it, guess i’ll do just that given that the awards and ECs mentionned in the regular application are enough and I don’t think will get any by the deadline
What are you guys doing?
I’m filling out the form. Overall, it’s just another layer to my application, and I have a few things to add. I don’t know if I’ll necessarily make it overflow but I’ll at least add something.
Repeating hjkrbunny’s question- does anyone know the word limit for each question on the update form??? I can’t find it anywheeere
@andyarrgz there’s no limit for how much you can type. From a word up to a novel!
@tarekb22 ohhh really?? thank you!!
@andyarrgz @tarekb22 I just tried to paste a short essay that I wrote into the Update Form and it only let me have about 5 lines. I tried messing around with it, but it seems like the questions cap off at a certain point. Is this just my computer or something or is it the same for you guys???
Yeah, same thing here. There’s a 500 character limit- crazy!
