@amigadelauni If it makes you feel better nobody from my school has ever gotten accepted to Stanford. I’m sitting here hoping there’s a first for everything!
@dernhelm Well good luck, we’ll see if you can be a pathfinder.
@Jirbinator hey good luck to you, too!!
@dernhelm same here, no one’s ever been accepted at my school–which makes the attitude around people applying to selective schools very much a “YOU think you can get in THERE?” attitude. I’m too embarrassed to tell anyone I’ve even applied…
@Ifrost oh I totally feel. I’ve defaulted to just telling people I applied to “California schools.”
If it’s any relief to you, I don’t think it works like that. I have seen local schools go from zero students to 8 to 2. Your admission is not directly related to peers
Mostly you have to be an athlete or otherwise a flight risk if you have to wait until the usual notification date. Likely letters for non athletes are very uncommon - I can’t swear re Stanford but Harvard for sure.
Is Stanford big on accepting deferred applicants? I’m pretty new to college confidential and am also a fellow deferred member
@Darius13 they definitely accept more deferred applicants that most other schools (like harvard or yale, who defer such a big percentage of EA applicants that, obviously, they don’t accept many of them). since stanford defers such a small percentage of EA applicants, it’s consequential that a bigger percentage of them end up getting in! this is just from what ive heard–and of course i’m hoping it’s true
have y’all been telling people about your deferral or naw?
@lfrost I have because people have been asking me about where I’m going to college and since most of my colleges don’t get back to me until the end of this month, the only thing I can say is “I got deferred from Stanford” and most people at my school have no idea what deferral means since most of my state schools are relatively easy to get in and don’t have such things like deferral.
Most of my classmates know where they are going already so it feels weird to be one of few that doesn’t know where he/she are going.
@mmish321 i relate completely to everything u just said
If you all click “edit” on your submitted update forms, in your admissions portal, do the form fields become empty again?
Does this mean that deferred students could have submitted many forms?
@holtenbmx can you do that? Did they clear for you? Did you try submitting again? Because in the letter, it didn’t specify whether we could submit it multiple times.
And yes, the answer boxes do clear when I click edit as well. Perhaps it makes sense why the word limit was so small for each, maybe because you can submit the form multiple times? But again, they should’ve mentioned it though. Oh well, nothing we can do now.
When do decisions come out?
@lfrost not sure but, if my predictions are correct, i think march 30th is our day bc theyve released them on the last friday of march in past years i think
Has anyone’s portal changed? Mine now has two links next to my Optional Update Form, saying “Display” and “Submit New”.
That’s how mine is as well.
When I click “display” it says:
“Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.”
…is this the case for everyone else?
