I too have been regretting my REA application, just thinking about the number of people that apply early :(

@heldenleben I guess I should have applied to a relatively easier school. I’m amazed to see so many of us out here.

I’m just going to focus on finals on December 3rd

@imagineer10 Same! AP Cal is going to be a monster

Lol I’m trying to focus on the other applications, and scholarships apps before the deadlines have passed Lol but at school people are like decisions are coming out soon and I’m like “Really? Didn’t even notice”.

But tbh who has time to worry about Stanford, when you have AP Physics kicking your butt. This upcoming final is going to be my coming of age event :|

@emenya lol good luck with ap physix… took it last year and it was brutal. especially the c tests, though mainly because our teacher didn’t know how to teach

Thanksgiving project is to get further into coding.

Hey guys,

First time posting here but I’m starting to get a bit worried about the admissions process. I’m an applicant from the UK and through no fault of my own have become “famous” for applying to America (Everyone makes a note of it when we talk about where we’re all applying). I am actually the first person in the recent history of my school to apply off their own back to the US (without an athletic scholarship) and so, the admissions counselor has repeatedly stated her desire to turn me into the first success story.

I’m just worried that come December 15th, with the added spotlight on me, I’ll react to the decision badly either way - be it an acceptance or rejection. Stanford really is my absolute dream school, I had the pleasure to visit a few months ago and I think my passion has come across well in my essays and what I can only describe as a stellar interview. But is all that enough?

Furthermore, I’ve had to deal with a few hiccups during the process. Primarily, my payment for the Common App was delayed for a few days and I came very close to missing the deadline. Then, following my interview my alumnus informed me that Stanford had noted down the Girls Only branch of the school I attend, rather than the Boys’ School. I also was late submitting my ISCOF form and all these have meant I’ve been in quite frequent communication with the credentials office, the admissions office, the financial aid office and even my alumnus interviewer.

I just don’t know what my chances are like anymore

@UKapplicant2019
- Why would you react to the decision badly if you get an acceptance? If you’re thinking you won’t be humble about it, I guess a good policy is not to mention what happens to people unless it’s prompted. In regards to a rejection, remember that thousands of students just like you also will not have gotten in.

Honestly, nobody can say if it’s enough, ever. Not even the director of admissions can. Applications are read by certain admissions officers, not all, and if you are lucky to be immediately admitted, that will be the case, if not you will be put through a “voting” process of sorts and it’s really just up to the perspective of the officers in the short 10-15 minutes they get with your application.

Don’t worry about your chances. Unless you’ve got no backups, which I’d hope isn’t the case, you’ll be fine wherever you end up (I know it’s cliche, but hey). Many subscribe to the theory that it’s better to be the big fish in a small pond than the small fish in a big pond (or as I like to say, it’s better to be a whale in a fish tank than marlin and dory in the ocean with sharks that might eat them up). Stanford is a magical place, but once you get there you’re no longer at the top of the totem pole, everyone else is as smart as you. This is good for some people who realize that a little fear is good, but many others might get frightened and this won’t be the best environment for them. Take some time to evaluate which case you are. If the latter, you’ll be fine in another college, if the former, well, that mentality will take you anywhere you want to be.

Let’s all live now, in our senior years, rather than in the future; it’ll quell our fears. :P

Sooo SAT subject test scores came out… I am literally so stupid. It’s so frustrating. Lol I’m glad I registered to take them again in December.

Some people received their decisions.

@lukan9718 what? Lol

Read the posts on this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/612652862160220/?fref=ts

What are the stars?

@lukan9718 Yeah. What are the stars? It would be so early if sbd actually receive the decision. Can’t wait to hear mine.

It was a link from facebook. Just type facebook and copy the rest of the link to read more!

@UKapplicant2019 you are too stressed up. At Stanford, no one really knows what their chances are. Even I am the only one in my school applying to the United States. The teachers and counselors naturally got very excited and aided me in the process. But now the whole school is waiting for the results as if I’m going to deliver a baby and that’s for sure lol.

Wait, I don’t understand how anyone could have gotten admitted already? Unless they are one of those sports people who signed with Stanford.

@jk1324. You are correct…this:
Relax…or should I say be patient…even the best of the best slam dunk (cancer curing, multimillionaire entrepreneur…4.0, 2400) non-athletes don’t find out until the decision day!
